YOU WILL

Essential Functions (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions).
  • Recruitment, retention, evaluation and supervision of nursing personnel.
  • Formulate and implement nursing philosophy and objectives consistent with the stated goals of the surgery center.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and staffing essential to the achievement of the philosophy and objectives of the surgery center. Review and revise these in collaboration with the administrator, the nursing staff and the professional staff, keeping up to date on current trends in nursing practice and patient care.
  • Evaluation of programs and patient care activities.
  • Responsible for continued compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
  • Assures documentation of patient care to meet criteria dictated by legal practice, state and federal health standards.
  • Develop an organizational structure, assigning responsibilities and delegating authority that will facilitate safe, effective and efficient care for the surgical patient.
  • Provide leadership and support in developing and maintaining effective relationships with the surgical center staff and vendors.
  • Establish, maintain, analyze, and evaluated standards of nursing care within the surgery center in compliance with professional nursing standards and recommended perioperative procedures.
  • Responsible for collaborating on standards of performance with the ancillary support services.
  • Maintain awareness of professional issues at the local, state, and national levels that impact the delivery of nursing services and health care management.
  • Initiates and/or supports activities to control costs. - Responsible for ordering, receiving, storage and distribution of medical supplies and drugs, including monitoring usage and adjusting stock levels per the needs of the surgical center.
  • Make recommendations for medical supplies and equipment purchases to the administrator, based on the evaluation of new or improved products.
  • Oversees all aspects of the quarterly inventory, including counting, pricing and extending pricing.
  • On an as-needed basis may act in the capacity of a Registered Nurse, within the preoperative.
  • Delegates administrative responsibilities to another staff R.N. in his/her absence with notification to the Administrator.
  • Assumes administrative responsibility of the surgical center in the absence of the administrator.
  • Is available for guidance, counseling and support as needed by the nursing staff.
  • Provide and supervise nursing orientation programs and staff development as needed.
  • Reduce chance of nosocomial infection by directing attention to infection control and environmental safety practices.
  • Supervise collection of all required records and reports.
  • Holds individual employees accountable for assigned responsibilities and individual goals and performance expectations through annual performance evaluations and conferences.
  • Serves on identified multi-disciplinary committees, assists with gathering quality data, completes audits, conducts appropriate research, reports back to appropriate to staff committees, management team.
  • Establish, maintain, and evaluate quality control studies within the operating room, pre-operative area and PACU in collaboration with the administrator to improve the services these departments provide to others.
  • Identify areas, which require additional reinforcement through education, consultation, or practicum.
  • Maintain patient, dentist, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.
  • Follow the surgery center's professional conduct and dress code policy.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings.
  • Provide outstanding customer service that exceeds expectation.

  • This job operates in a medical facility where there is patient care equipment. Hazardous materials are also present. Exposure to patients' conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases is possible.

YOU HAVE

Requirements + Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current state license to practice as a registered nurse
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience
  • Knowledge regarding the nursing process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Current American Heart Association issued Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current American Heart Association issued Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in nursing
  • ICU or perioperative nursing experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager experience- Regulatory and Accreditation knowledge (CMS, DOH, OSHA, AORN, AAAHC)
