What You'll Do:

As Director of Nursing, you will serve as the clinical backbone of SCADD's nursing operations - providing strategic leadership and hands-on oversight across our Detox, Lebanon Pines, and residential units in New London, Norwich, and Lebanon. Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations, you will set the tone for nursing practice across the organization, building a culture of excellence, accountability, and compassionate care at every site.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight of nursing operations across multiple SCADD sites in New London, Norwich, and Lebanon, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality care in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory mandates
  • Support the effective fiscal management of nursing operations and ensure the proper utilization of organizational resources across all locations
  • Maintain responsibility for patient records, Department of Mental Health and Addictions Services reports, facility logs, and other required reporting
  • Oversee the pre-certification process and conduct utilization reviews with third-party payers
  • Ensure accurate and timely input of clinical data by nursing staff
  • Oversee the orientation, supervision, and professional development of nursing staff, detoxification technicians, interns, and other staff across all sites
  • Provide explanation of patient care, test procedures, and care philosophy to clients and families as needed
  • Interact with the Chief Medical Officer as necessary to align clinical priorities and standards
  • Evaluate nursing activities across all units to ensure quality patient care, positive staff relations, and efficiency of service
  • Oversee the ordering of medications, solutions, equipment, and medical supplies for all units
  • Carry out full supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, performance appraisal, and employee relations
  • Participate in committee and team meetings across sites as applicable
  • Participate in the orientation of new employees and the transfer of knowledge necessary for the performance of duties

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in nursing required; Master's degree or advanced nursing degree preferred
  • Current State of Connecticut Department of Public Health Registered Nurse (RN) License required
  • Current CPR Certification required
  • Minimum of five years' experience, including progressive management/leadership equivalent combination of education and experience considered
  • Demonstrated ability to manage nursing operations, staffing, and regulatory compliance across multiple locations in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clinical staff, program directors, the Chief Medical Officer, clients, and families
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary nursing team across geographically distributed sites
