Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the ACNO, the Director of Clinical Operations has accountability and is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the hospital. Is responsible for applying best practices and evidence-based knowledge in the facilitating optimal patient flow throughout the organization. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff, internal as well as external to the organization to achieve favorable patient outcomes. Responds to occupancy bed demands thought the day with action oriented steps geared toward maintaining acute bed access for patients within the hospital's delivery system. Performs his/her job functions in a manner consistent with the Texas Board of Nursing and in accordance with the hospital's goals, objectives, policies/procedures and mission. The Director of Clinical Ops is responsible for the development and oversight of high quality, cost-effective and integrated hospital programs among the multiple nursing areas. Ensures efficient and timely throughput throughout the contimuum of care. Assists the CNO in ensuring the delivery of quality patient care while improving standards of care delivery, standards of practice, and fiscal stewardship in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization. Will exercise leadership and management responsibility over all functions within the management scope of this position ensuring efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of patients, physicians, the public, and staff. Maintains knowledge of social, economic, legal and regulatory issues, which impact the health care delivery system. The Director of Clinical Operations will be accountable for the overall success of their assigned areas of responsibility which include House Supervisor Office, Float Pool, Sitter Pool, Overflow Unit, Observation Unit, and the Discharge Suite.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse license in the state of Texas
  • Masters Degree preferred, or Bachelors Degree required
  • 2+ years of Charge Nurse or supervisory management experience required
  • 2+ years of recent clinical practice required
  • Professional nursing certification preferred
  • Position will oversee House Supervisor Office, Float Pool, Sitter Pool, Overflow Unit, Observation Unit, and the Discharge Suite
  • Throughput and metric comprehension required
  • Previous House Supervisor, manager of clinical operations, or experience Staffing multiple units would be ideal background
  • Knowledge of the ED or how to manage Hold patients a plus
  • Detail oriented and a strong communicator required
  • Builds strong relationships with other leaders
  • There will be a rotation for phone call coverage
  • Some flex in schedule required
  • Quality and regulatory experience a plus

Medical City Fort Worth serves as a tertiary referral center for Tarrant County and many counties within a 90 mile radius. We offer comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services. Our specialties include cardiac care, neurosciences and oncology. We have surgical services, orthopedics, kidney transplants and emergency care. We offer three ER locations, including two off campus ER located in Burleson and White Settlement. Medical City Fort Worth is a designated comprehensive stroke center. We are a Joint Commission chest pain center. We are a part of the Medical City network of hospitals. Patients are ensured access to medical experts and advanced healthcare innovations across the network.
