Director of Nursing (DON)

Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (On-Call Rotation Required)

Position Summary

Greater Vision Healthcare Services is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and results-driven Director of Nursing (DON) to provide clinical leadership for our growing home health organization. This executive leadership position is responsible for directing all clinical operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting exceptional patient outcomes, and developing a high-performing clinical team.

The Director of Nursing plays a critical role in advancing the organization's mission of delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting strategic growth initiatives throughout the communities we serve.

Position Responsibilities

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall management of clinical services and nursing operations, including but not limited to:
  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and development of clinical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, AHCA, Medicare, Medicaid, and accreditation requirements.
  • Oversee patient care delivery to ensure the highest standards of quality and clinical excellence.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor quality assurance, infection control, risk management, and performance improvement activities.
  • Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, referral sources, and community partners.
  • Support business growth through clinical oversight of new programs and service expansion.
  • Participate in strategic planning and operational decision-making.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and clinical competency of nursing personnel.
  • Participate in agency surveys, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Serve in the agency's on-call leadership rotation, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and compassionate care.

Minimum Qualifications

Required
  • Current, unrestricted Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership or management experience.
  • Previous experience in home health, community-based healthcare, hospice, or similar clinical setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation, AHCA regulations, and applicable federal and state healthcare laws.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred
  • Home Health Director of Nursing experience.
  • OASIS experience.
  • Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) experience.
  • Accreditation survey preparation and regulatory compliance experience.
  • BLS Certification.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based with periodic travel to patient homes, community locations, and partner facilities. The Director of Nursing must be able to respond to urgent clinical situations and participate in an on-call rotation as business needs require.
