Director of Nursing ( DON ) Job Summary:

We are looking for a true leader who will develop their team, hold staff accountable while building strong positive relationships, and strengthen staff retention. The DON has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the management of nursing care and supervision of nursing staff. Partnering closely with the Administrator, the DON will help build on the positive momentum already established at the facility.

Director of Nursing ( DON ) Required Education/Experience:
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN ) in the State of Florida
  • DON Skilled Nursing Facility experience


Director of Nursing ( DON ) Major Duties/Critical Tasks:
  • Assume responsibility for the development of nursing service objectives and performance standards of nursing practice for each category of nursing personnel
  • Assume accountability for the organization and implementation of approved policies and procedures
  • Interview, select, and hire staff both professional and non-professional clinical staff who will plan, provide, and evaluate care of the elderly and chronically ill residents
  • Evaluate the quality and productivity of the nursing workload
  • Analyze and evaluate nursing staff ratio based on acuity and resident's needs
  • Interpret policy and procedure internally for nursing staff, all ancillary staff, and externally for community and regulatory agencies
  • Direct, evaluate and supervise all resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary
  • Plan and direct nursing staff orientation, in service education, and competency testing
  • Assess resident care needs and assist in the development of individualized plans of resident care
  • Assume responsibility for implementation of Clinical and Prospective Payment System Minimum Data Set completion schedule
  • Assess resident pre-admission and/or admission information and determine appropriate level of care
  • Assume responsibility for development and implementation of nursing rehabilitation and restorative programs
