Full Job Description
The Marketing & Communications Director leads CAMBA's brand, messaging and communications strategy, both internal and external. The role oversees marketing campaigns, digital communications, media relationships, storytelling, content development and brand management across all channels, both print and digital. The Director works collaboratively with program leadership and the development team to strengthen CAMBA's visibility and advance mission-driven goals. The Director manages the Social Media & Website Manager. Internal communications include the monthly staff newsletter, annual program directory, and providing support in creation of program materials, engaging external designers as needed.

What Does the Marketing & Communications Director Do:

Donor and Community Communications
  • Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy aligned with organization priorities.
  • Develop and create donor marketing collateral in consultation with the development team.
  • Create annual communication plans that support internal communication, fundraising, advocacy and program goals.
  • Ensure consistent brand identity, messaging and voice across all platforms and collateral.
  • Oversee digital advertising, Google Analytics and multimedia content initiatives where applicable.
  • Write stories, features and other content for monthly e-newsletters, semi-annual print newsletter, annual report, special event collateral, and program materials as requested.
  • Ensure marketing/brand content on CAMBA's intranet is reviewed routinely, but at a minimum bi-monthly and follow-up/coordination occurs with appropriate departments. Take leading role in production of videos and other materials for special events, including CAMBA Night Out.
  • Represent CAMBA at outside agency/community meetings as requested.


Media Relations
  • Serve as CAMBA's primary news media contact. Work with CAMBA's outside consultants on all media inquiries and press interviews. Manage onsite media at events.
  • Prepare CAMBA personnel for media interviews & public events as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with media restrictions in contracted programs (DHS).
  • Develop press releases, events and other communications vehicles.
  • Update and maintain a comprehensive media contact list.
  • Track and document coverage of CAMBA in all external media. Provide monthly report detailing all media coverage.
  • Develop potential story ideas and media pitches to generate greater awareness of CAMBA's mission and impact.

Internal Communications
  • Develop and create monthly staff newsletters including Staff Spotlights, milestones/promotions and upcoming program events.
  • Ensure marketing/brand content on CAMBA's intranet is reviewed routinely, but at a minimum bi-monthly and follow-up/coordination occurs with appropriate departments.
  • Comply with any and all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.

Minimum Experiences and Skills Required:
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated success as a Communications Manager/Director in a mid-sized (500+ employees) organization
  • Two (2) years of experience managing a team with direct reports or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Able to synthesize data and information into one compelling voice and story
  • Strong project management skills
  • Enjoys working independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Constant Contact required, Experience with Blackbaud NXT a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiar with public (NYC, NYS and federal) and private grants and contracts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled at working across multiple teams and with staff of varying levels of seniority, including executives, to produce timely and high-quality deliverables

Compensation: -'100,000-110,000 Annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: -Full-time (35 hours per week)
