Overview

As one of the largest and fastest-growing national networks of OB/GYN medical practices, Unified Women's Healthcare is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Implementation to lead the successful onboarding of new care centers onto the Unified platform. This role provides leadership and oversight for a team of project managers responsible for electronic medical record (EMR) implementations, data conversion and migration initiatives, and operational integration efforts. The Director is accountable for establishing the vision, strategy, processes, and operational framework that drive successful care center onboarding, technology adoption, and implementation initiatives that support organizational growth.

The Director serves as a key leader within Integration Operations, partnering closely with executive leadership, operational stakeholders, Information Technology, Revenue Cycle Management, Clinical Operations, and external partners to develop and execute EMR implementation strategies that support organizational growth and integration objectives. This role provides oversight of the EMR implementation portfolio, ensuring alignment across business functions, successful onboarding of newly affiliated practices, and adoption of operational and technology platforms. The Director is responsible for overseeing data conversion and validation strategies, and ensuring the successful execution of implementation and EMR adoption efforts. Through leadership, resource planning, performance management, and continuous improvement, the Director advances scalable EMR capabilities, mitigates enterprise risk, promotes data integrity, and delivers sustainable business outcomes while minimizing disruption to care center operations and enhancing the provider, staff, and patient experience.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Team Development
  • Develop and execute the enterprise EMR implementation strategy, ensuring alignment with organization goals, growth initiatives, and operational priorities
  • Provide leadership and director to implementation leaders and project management teams fostering a high-performing organization capable of delivering complex implementations at scale
  • Establish performance standards, talent development strategies, succession planning, and leadership pipelines to ensure long-term organizational capability
  • Champion a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the function

Implementation Oversight and Operational Excellence
  • Provide executive oversight of the EMR implementation portfolio, ensuring successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, timeline, quality and strategic objectives.
  • Establish and maintain implementation of governance frameworks, decision-making structures, performance reporting, and risk management processes
  • Monitor portfolio performance and implementation health metrics, proactively identifying risks, dependencies and barriers to successful execution
  • Partner with Integration Operations and executive leadership to establish implementation initiatives, optimize resource allocation and establish go-live strategies
  • Ensure consistent application of implementation methodologies, project management standards and best practices the drive scalable and repeatable outcomes


Cross-Functional Partnership and Organizational Alignment
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to align implementation strategies with organizational strategy, growth objectives and operational readiness.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex EMR implementation issues, providing strategic guidance and resolution for critical challenges
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with operations, clinical and support-function leaders to facilitate successful EMR implementation and change adoption
  • Deliver senior-level communication regarding implementation performance, operational risks, strategic opportunities, and change adoption
  • Lead organizational readiness and change management efforts to support the adoption of new systems, processes and business capabilities


Operational Excellence, Innovation, and Vendor Strategy
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on implementation efficiency, scalability, and customer experience, and overall business performance
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, portfolio metrics, and implementation success measures to evaluate effectiveness and inform strategic decision
  • Oversee strategic vendor and third-party partner relationships, ensuring Service quality, accountability, and alignment with organization objectives
  • Identify, evaluate and implement innovative technologies, tools and process that enhance implementation outcomes and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure lessons learned, best practices, and implementation insights are systematically captured, shared, and incorporated into future implementation strategies and operational standards

Qualifications
• Bachelors degree
• 7+ years of progressive experience overseeing implementation, integration, project management, or client services functions within healthcare or healthcare technology environments required
• 5+ years of experience leading managers and high-performing teams preferred
• Deep knowledge of athenahealth EMR platforms and proven experience leading large-scale Athena implementations, migrations, and operational adoption efforts.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans while balancing organizational priorities and operational execution.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Experience managing complex project portfolios, resource planning, and organizational change initiatives.
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and talent development skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience utilizing data to drive decision-making.
