As the Director of Implementation, Design, and Coaching - Math, you'll be the driving force behind systemic instructional improvement across multiple schools in South San Francisco Unified School District. You'll own the full lifecycle of implementation-from strategic launch through measurable impact-while serving as both a strategic partner to district leaders and a hands-on instructional coach who designs and facilitates professional learning that sticks.
This is not a behind-the-scenes role. You'll be in schools weekly, working shoulder-to-shoulder with teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to strengthen K-8 math instruction through collaborative learning cycles, student work analysis, and curriculum implementation aligned to Illustrative Mathematics. You'll translate complex district priorities into actionable project plans, monitor progress with precision, and adjust strategies in real-time based on qualitative and quantitative data. Your work will directly influence how teachers plan lessons, deliver instruction, and help students apply mathematical thinking to the real world.

- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in education, instructional leadership, curriculum implementation, or district-level instructional support
- Deep content expertise in K-8 mathematics instruction, coaching, and instructional leadership, with demonstrated knowledge of Illustrative Mathematics and California ELD Standards
- Proven track record leading complex implementation efforts across multiple schools or at the district level, with accountability for measurable instructional outcomes
- Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating professional learning that is standards-aligned, coherent, and produces measurable changes in teacher practice
- Experience providing instructional coaching to school or district leaders that strengthens their practice and leadership effectiveness
- Experience serving as a primary client or partner relationship owner within a district or multi-school context, managing expectations and maintaining accountability for satisfaction and impact
- Experience translating district or organizational strategy into actionable project plans with clear milestones, sequencing, and accountability for outcomes
- Experience managing and developing staff or team members, with responsibility for ensuring quality execution and continuous improvement
- Practitioner-level AI fluency and comfort using systems to track, monitor, and communicate coaching and implementation progress

Benefits- Compensation:
- If hired for this position, the base salary range is $103,649 to $140,231 per year. Most new hires enter the range at a specific point based on their qualifications and the role level. For this position, the standard starting salary is $121,940, which is based on meeting the minimum requirement of 8 years of relevant experience.
- If you have more than 8 years of directly relevant experience, your starting salary may be adjusted higher within the range, up to a maximum starting salary of $129,779. This approach ensures that candidates with additional experience beyond the minimum are recognized in the initial salary offer. This role will receive a geographic multiplier based on where you reside in California.
- Benefits:
- 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees. Additional premium costs are covered 60% by Leading Educators for partners and dependents on medical, dental, and vision plans. 4% matching 401k plan, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare and commuter expenses, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Benefits are valued at or above $9,000 for employees.
- Time Off:
- First three years of employment, full time staff accrue 22 days a year.
- Five additional days are accrued after the third and sixth year of employment.
- Leading Educators also offer 16 additional paid days off for various holidays, including three floating holidays staff may use at their discretion.
