Director of Immersion Learning and Student Engagement Spiritual Life
Full Time (12-Months), Exempt, Category 3
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000

Position Summary

The Director of Immersion Learning and Student Engagement leads the high school programs through which students encounter Christ beyond the classroom: immersion learning trips, advisory, community service, and student-led ministry. The Director designs and sustains these as one connected discipleship pathway rather than four separate offerings, so that every high school student is known, cared for, and given meaningful opportunity to serve. The Director also teaches in the Bible Department, keeping the role rooted in the daily academic life of the school.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

1. Immersion Learning Trips
• Own the end-to-end trip process - scouting, planning, design, leadership, and post-trip assessment - and equip service and academic trip leaders to execute it against the OCS trip learning outcomes.
• Coordinate all high school service and academic trips, maintaining a pricing and aid approach that keeps trips accessible to every Oaks student.
• Steward the immersion learning trip budget within the parameters set by the OCS Finance Department, keeping the program financially sustainable year over year.
• Establish and nurture relationships with academic and service trip partners, and vet new partners for safety, mission alignment, and educational value.
• Partner with the OCS Marketing Department on a strategy to promote the Spiritual Life Department's academic and service trip offerings to students and families.

2. Advisory
• Oversee and coordinate the high school advisory program.
• Facilitate the Advisory Grade-Level PLC team.
• Establish advisory groups for each grade level in partnership with the Student Life Department.
• Build advisory programming around themes that strengthen community on campus, addressing the spiritual, social, emotional, academic, and service dimensions of student care.

3. Community Service and Campus Life
• Create and supervise community service initiatives for high school students.
• Administer and track community service hours for the high school, including reporting and follow-up with students who fall behind.
• Organize and oversee the high school's heritage celebrations, including Latino, Black, and Asian Pacific American heritage.

4. Student-Led Ministries
• Manage the on-campus ministry strategy, student leadership development, and ministry communication across the high school campus.
• Provide spiritual counseling, guidance, and mentoring to students.

5. Bible Department Teaching
• Teach two Bible department courses per semester.
• Participate in the grade-level course PLC, Bible department meetings, and faculty meetings.

Key Partnerships
• Collaborate with the Principal, Head of Bible, Discipleship and Spiritual Life, Student Activities Director, Deans of Students, Service Prefect, Trip Coordinator, and Student Leadership on shared programs and events that advance the Oaks Christian motto, "Minds for Leadership, Hearts for Service."
• Represent the Spiritual Life Department with external trip partners, service organizations, and ministry partners.

Qualifications

Required
• A committed follower of Jesus Christ who affirms the OCS Statement of Faith and Biblical Worldview Statement and models the school's Declaration of Ethical, Virtuous, and Moral Behavior.
• Master's degree in education, ministry, theology, or a related field, with coursework or equivalent competency in Bible or theology sufficient to teach high school Bible.
• Demonstrated ability to project manage complex schedules and programs across multiple stakeholders.
• Proven record of long-term volunteer partnership with a non-profit.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to prepare concise, cohesive presentations for students, parents, and school leadership.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Docs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally and to work evenings, weekends, and school breaks as trips and programming require.

Preferred
• Classroom teaching experience in a 9th- 12 grade setting.
• Experience developing student leaders and running advisory or homeroom programs.
• 3-5 years leading and organizing domestic or international service and mission trips, preferably with youth teams.
