Facilitate professional learning to drive instructional excellence and coherence - Lead the secondary humanities instructional vision through evidence-based, tiered adolescent literacy practices, including disciplinary literacy, skill-building through Tier 1 complex text, and targeted multi-tiered interventions in order to accelerate literacy achievement across grades 6-12
- Demonstrate instructional expertise and understanding of curricular frameworks and pedagogy for history at the secondary level
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate secondary humanities teachers
- Routinely conduct classroom observations and use Hudson's instructional framework to provide actionable, constructive feedback to improve instruction
- Plan & lead humanities content community meetings and act as a liaison among teachers, building principals, and district administration
- Design professional learning opportunities that model engagement strategies and high expectations for all students and adults
- Demonstrate commitment to shared responsibility for the achievement and inclusion of students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and other historically underserved students
Engage in continuous improvement through data analysis and action planning - Collaborate with educators to set targeted growth goals for their students using state achievement data, district diagnostic data, and classroom assessment data
- Coach educators on providing strategic skill-building opportunities for students with lagging skills in the context of grade level instruction
- Coach educators on designing and/or adapting common assessments that reflect all content and practice expectations of Massachusetts standards and reflect the competencies of Hudson's K-12 Portrait of a Learner
- Coach educators on effective daily data practices, such as routine progress checks, goal setting and strategic monitoring
- Collaborate with educators to co-develop instructional action plans in response to individual student and whole class data
- Collaborate with leadership team to analyze whole school and district data and engage in identifying broader trends and areas for growth
- Use data to analyze curricular programs for strengths and weaknesses, and engage in collaborative dialogue about strategic program implementation
Plan and coach to intentionally address achievement and opportunity gaps - Guide goal setting for ambitious student growth, with strategic attention to students who have historically experienced inequitable access, opportunity, or outcomes
- Support the strategic adjustment of instructional practice to address student needs
- Challenge deficit-based assumptions about students' abilities and support educators in maintaining ambitious, asset-based expectations
- Model interventions that address specific aspects of literacy and language development for multilingual students and students with specific disabilities
- Facilitate the strategic use of varied materials and methods in district curricula to meet varied students' needs
- Partner with school leadership to align secondary humanities curricula and cross-linguistic literacy strategies that foster advanced biliteracy within the district's dual language program
Expand the instructional program's impact within the local community - Create intentional and routine opportunities for students to learn, serve, and act across district schools and within the Hudson community
- Continue to increase the quality, impact, and sustainability of civic action experiences for students and for community partners
- Connect classroom learning experiences with the six competencies of the Hudson's K-12 Portrait of a Learner
- Communicate program goals to parents and the broader community
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required, with Master’s degree and doctorate degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a school and/or district leader preferred
- DESE Certification as a Supervisor/Director
- Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese, preferred
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints

Salary Range: Individual Contract Salary Placement determined within the posted range by the Superintendent of Schools
WORK YEAR + BENEFITS : - 12 month position - 261 days
- 5 personal days, 18 sick days, 25 vacation days prorated pursuant to date of hire
