Director of Healthcare Services Overview

The Director of the Healthcare Services department is responsible for the direction and oversight of all department services, its employees and its functions. Director must keep with the organizations tradition of enhancing the quality of life and holistic growth of children, adolescents and adults. Duties and responsibilities include the provision of excellent healthcare services for all residents in the Melmark living areas 24 hours a day appropriate to the ages and populations served. The Director of this department will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of Melmark's plan for the provision of health care in compliance with Nursing Care Standards and Practice of Pennsylvania. Knowledge of DPW 6400 & 6600 regulations surrounding residential care is required.

Schedule and Salary Information
  • Monday- Friday day shift
  • Salary: $110k-$120k


Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing required.
  • Active licensed Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner through the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners or current licensure as a Physician's Assistant.
  • U.S. state valid driver's license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must attain approved Melmark driver status.
  • Five years of nursing experience with experience in a nursing leadership capacity. Previous experience as a Director of Nursing preferred.


Director of Healthcare Services Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes and directs the care for individuals served through participation in the development and implementation of the philosophy, goals and objectives for nursing care. Defines, establishes and maintains standards of nursing practice with professional guidelines. Assess the quality of nursing care provided to ensure that the care provided complies with the established standards of nursing practice.
  • Manages and takes responsibilities for the resident care and other related activities. To include assisting Melmark physicians in the establishment and implementation of quality health care for Melmark individuals. Evaluates consulting contracts with physicians and recommends changes as needed to ensure quality health care services. Establishes standards for the evaluation of nursing care.
  • Facilitates means and methods by which nursing personnel can work with groups in interpreting the goals of Melmark for each individual, his/her family, and the community. Protects and promotes resident rights; including confidentiality, privacy, dignity and the freedom from abuse.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director of Healthcare, ensures that the individual served and his/her family are provided with the education and information necessary to benefit from the health care interventions provided while in Melmark's setting through the development and assessment of the individual care delivery system. Provides for comprehensive admission and discharge health care information.
  • Establishes methods to assess and achieve individual served family satisfaction. This includes the completion of medical documentation relating to social security, insurance information and other parental and agency requests.
