DescriptionThe Director of Grants & Compliance oversees grant-related financial and programmatic compliance for the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA (CCCY), Shore Area Community Development Corporation (SACDC) and Alpha Home Inc. (AHI) entities, and all Federal and State agencies, including but not limited to the Departments of Housing (DOH), Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), and the Office of Early Childhood (OEC). This role ensures accurate, timely grant reporting, compliance with federal, state, and contractual requirements, and the integrity of financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit standards. Working closely with program, development, and finance staff, the Director leads grant compliance, supports audit readiness, and strengthens systems, processes, and accountability across grant-funded activity.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in grant management, compliance, and accounting, preferably in a nonprofit environment
- Experience with federal and/or state grants, funder reporting, audit support, and grant-related compliance requirements required
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting required
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, nonprofit accounting standards, and compliance practices
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial or grant management systems
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
