Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Director of Fundraising and Business Development is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization's comprehensive fundraising and development program. This position will lead efforts to secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and other funding sources while strengthening relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners. This position will focus heavily on donor fundraising and will collaborate with others in the organization and external resources on acquisition of new corporate partners.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop USA Wrestling's overall fundraising strategy to include major gifts, annual giving efforts and campaigns including identification, qualification, cultivation, stewardship, acknowledgement and long-term relationship building.
  • Cultivate new donor relationships to expand the pool of donors to USA Wrestling, which will include building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with current and prospective donors.
  • Develop new, unique and creative stewardship programs to increase inclusion, satisfaction and retention of donors at all levels.
  • Develop fundraising tools and collateral for fundraising campaigns to support USA Wrestling National Teams programming and also support the USA Wrestling general fund.
  • Establish annual fundraising goals, objectives, timelines, and performance measures.
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities and funding sources.
  • Oversee the USA Wrestling Alumni Program (former National Team athletes, coaches, and officials).
  • Develop and maintain a professional database system for tracking donor clients and activity.
  • Work closely with the United States Wrestling Foundation (USWF) on joint programs including the Living the Dream Medal Fund.
  • Manage departmental budget for revenue and expenses.
  • Manage the fulfilment process for corporate partners and work with other USA Wrestling staff (ex. Events, Legal, National Team, etc.) to maximize impact for corporate partners.
  • Work closely with the management team to drive and implement the strategy for donor revenue growth.
  • Research emerging fundraising trends and recommend new strategies and opportunities.
  • Streamline and execute necessary paperwork involved with donor needs, state & federal laws, and USA Wrestling records.
  • Supervise a team of four full-time fundraising and business development staff, including coaching, mentoring, and providing professional growth opportunities to the team members.


Qualifications
  • 5-10+ years of fundraising sales and donor stewardship experience with a not-for-profit, foundation, collegiate athletic department or association, national governing body or a similar organization, including experience with major gifts and individual giving programs.
  • Established reputation and track record of success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.
  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated success in developing and mentoring staff.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel for client meetings, events, offsite meetings, etc.
  • The ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences.
  • Adept at negotiating sound business deals and mutually beneficial donor relationships.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Energetic self-starter, results oriented, and passionate individual.
  • Superior public speaking and persuasive presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.


Pay Range

$115,000 - $140,000

Other Information

The USA Wrestling Office is in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the ability to work from National Office is required. This role reports to the Executive Director.

This role requires ability to travel approximately 40% of the time.

This role requires staff oversight of four who also serve fundraising and day-to-day administrative management roles.
