POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Flight Training will provide leadership to the Flight Operations Training Department to achieve company goals and objectives associated with safety, security, reliability, operational efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

The Director of Flight Training is accountable to the Senior Director of Flight Operations, ensuring all aspects of departmental training are following 14 CFR Part 121.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
  • Required to have a thorough knowledge of all FAA training related regulations and industry standards.
  • Accountable for the day-to-day operation of AmeriJet Internationals flight training program delivery.
  • Accountable for maintaining compliance with all training standards established by AmeriJet.
  • Accountable for training records through the Training Records Supervisor.
  • Accountable for the standardization of flight operations training through the respective ground/flight training instructors, check airman.
  • Evaluates training requirements and identifies specific training solutions to support our operations teams with industry leading training curricula and delivery methods.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Director of Flight Operations to ensure operational safety and standardization of procedures for training delivery.
  • Ensure ETOPS training is continuous, robust, and updated as needed to ensure FAA requirements are met.
  • Implement safety risk management processes within the flight training department that supports the principles of the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Develop and implement strategies communicating Company goals and department performance requirements to all department personnel.
  • Supervise, train, monitor, and assess staff member performance.
  • Oversees all instructors for all training delivery and professionalism of the instructors.
  • Ensure all equipment needed for Flight Operations Training is available and in good working order.
  • Ensure proper instructor staffing completed all required training.
  • Make recommendations for the departmental operating and capital expense budgets.
  • Participates and attends weekly departmental and company meetings, as required.
  • Offer solutions and provide input to solve complex challenges.
  • Duties and responsibilities as outlined in the General Operations Manual and Training Program Manual.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Flight Operations.
  • Responsible for the oversight of all FAA training records and qualification requirements for all Instructor, Check Airman, and Air Program Designee's.
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement and updated curriculum to all training programs.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, training or adult learning or equivalent experience.
  • Experience as Pilot-In-Command in Part 121.
  • Experience as a Line Check Pilot.
  • Experience as a Proficiency Check Pilot.
  • Previous experience leading an adult learning program.
  • If the individual that is selected for the Director of Flight Training is a First Officer, he will be upgraded to Captain position with required training.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of airline management experience
  • 5 years or more as Part 121 Training Experience
  • Strong Communication skills (written and oral)
  • Computer literacy and strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Proven record of project planning and execution
  • Must be able to demonstrate authorization to work in the U.S

Certificates, licenses, registrations:
  • ATP, B-757/767 Type Rating preferred (will type candidate if needed).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include the Senior Manager of Crew Resources, Ground Instructors, Flight Training Instructors, Simulator Instructors, Check Airman, Aircrew Designees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.

Language Skills:

Must meet at least the minimums required by the Code of Federal Regulations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; lift weight up to 25 pounds; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
