Position OverviewThe Fleet Director is responsible for developing and executing the company's fleet strategy to support sustainable growth, maximize return on investment, and optimize the complete equipment lifecycle across the rental fleet. This leadership role partners closely with sales and operations, finance and executive leadership to drive fleet planning, acquisition strategies, vendor relationships, asset utilization, maintenance initiatives, disposal programs, and long-term capital investment decisions.
The Fleet Director will develop fleet strategies that includes market evaluation, fleet growth planning, product selection, equipment acquisition, maintenance optimization, remanufacturing opportunities and asset disposal to achieve maximum lifecycle returns while supporting customer demand and company growth objectives.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:Strategic Leadership & Fleet Planning- Develop and execute the company's overarching fleet strategy, aligning fleet investments with long-term organizational growth objectives.
- Lead strategic fleet growth planning, including future market expansion opportunities, fleet mix optimization, emerging equipment trends, and capital allocation strategies.
- Analyze fleet utilization, performance, market demand, and financial results to guide executive decision-making and investment planning.
- Present fleet performance, growth opportunities, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Asset Lifecycle Management- Continually develop and maintain enterprise fleet plans that optimize purchase timing, fleet growth, remanufacturing opportunities, and asset disposal strategies to maximize lifecycle returns.
- Design and oversee comprehensive lifecycle management programs for all fleet assets, including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, remanufacturing, and disposition.
- Develop initiatives that reduce total cost of ownership while maximizing asset utilization and profitability.
- Establish standards, processes, and performance metrics to support effective fleet management across all locations.
- Evaluate and identify equipment, technologies, and supplier offerings that improve operational performance and customer satisfaction.
Financial & Operational Performance- Monitor and improve fleet profitability through utilization analysis, ROI evaluations, cost of ownership assessments, and capital planning.
- Partner with operational leaders to ensure fleet decisions support growth, profitability, and customer demand requirements.
- Ensure accurate fleet data management and reporting systems to support operational and financial decision-making.
Supplier & Vendor Management- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Partner with sourcing and procurement teams to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and secure favorable supplier agreements.
- Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate programs that support operational and financial goals.
Leadership & Team Development- Build strong partnerships with regional and branch sales and leadership teams to support effective execution of fleet initiatives.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Build and lead a fleet team to meet operational needs of the business.
