Full Job Description
Position: Director of Finance

Reports To: The General Manager and The Corporate Director of Hotel Accounting

Position Overview:

The Director of Finance will function as the property's financial business leader, partnering with the General Manager and other property leaders. The Director of Finance will oversee and manage all accounting responsibilities including centralized payroll and payables, control compliance, financial reporting, cash management oversight, tax compliance, forecasting, safeguarding assets and business reporting to the investors. Assist with all hands-on accounting aspects of the company, and work in conjunction with CFO, the Corporate Director of Hotel Accounting and senior leadership in the aggressive and successful growth of the business. This position champions, develops, and implements products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of our guests, company, brand and investors. It safeguards owners' assets by creating and maintaining sound internal controls. The DOF is responsible for producing timely and accurate financial reports and business analytics to assist the team in improving revenue, reducing expenses and maximizing profits. As a member of property executive committee, the Director of Finance will lead, influence and encourage others, advocate sound financial/business decision making, demonstrate honesty and integrity, and will lead by example.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
• Supports General Manager in the achievement of financial goals by direct oversight
• Supervises/prepares accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
• Works closely with Valor Hospitality corporate accounting team to ensure timely reporting and consistency
• Ensures balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with Valor standard operating procedures
• Must be willing to "roll up the sleeves" to ensure the work gets done
• Analyzes available information (financial data, customer data, market trends, etc...) and utilizes the information to achieve financial goals and a competitive edge
• Leads the creation of accurate forecasts, annual budgets and business plans
• Administer banking arrangements and lead the preparation of the annual budgets. Prepare monthly financial statements, financial packages, and other informational reports/analysis
• Establish and reinforce a system of effective accounting and operational controls. Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL
• Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting periodic internal audits; Ensures effective management of cash flow
• Ensure adequate controls are installed and maintained for the protection of the organization's financial assets against loss or misappropriation
• Coordinate and prepare for external audits
• Ensures a strong accounting and operating control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and maximize profitability by conducting periodic audits and assessments of areas of risk
• Participates in sales and revenue strategy meetings to drive top line revenue • Monitors daily operations to ensure all applicable taxes are current, collected, accrued and processed
• Develops property team members' business acumen regarding revenue growth, labor productivity, expense reduction, inventory control and overall understanding of the income statement and cash flow
• Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience. CPA highly preferred Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in related position. Hotel and/or hospitality experience required.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform critical analysis and manage wide-range of information. Strong management skills, technical accounting expertise, exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the finance and hospitality professions. Possesses experiential knowledge required for management of people and complex problems. Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information and indicate logical conclusions and recommendations and make decisions based on established policies and procedures. Excellent oral, written, listening and presentation skills sufficient to produce communication that properly reflects the organization image
