Position Summary:
The Director of Finance serves as a strategic, analytical, and operationally disciplined leader responsible for supporting the financial integrity, reporting accuracy, compliance, and fiscal stewardship of Gun Lake Casino Resort. This role provides leadership over key finance and accounting functions, including General Ledger Accounting, Revenue Audit, and Accounts Payable.
The Director of Finance is responsible for leading day-to-day Finance Department operations, supporting the annual operating and capital budget process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing meaningful financial analysis that supports informed business decisions. This position partners closely with property leaders to monitor financial performance, evaluate operational results, manage expenditures within approved guidelines, and support the long-term financial and reputational success of the property.
As a senior leader within the Finance Department, this position is expected to lead with integrity, accountability, adaptability, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement. In this Role:
Leadership & Strategic Partnership- Consistently practice, support, and promote Gun Lake Casino Resort's Four Diamond Standards and organizational values.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Vice President of Finance & Administration and Executive Leadership Team in developing and executing financial strategies, operational priorities, and tactical plans that support organizational objectives, sustainable growth, guest satisfaction, and long-term success.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, ensuring effective execution of departmental priorities and achievement of established goals.
- Direct, coach, mentor, and develop the Finance leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, operational excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Demonstrate organizational agility by adapting priorities, resources, and communication to meet changing business needs, regulatory requirements, and operational demands.
Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting- Lead the development, administration, and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets in partnership with department leaders and executive leadership.
- Monitor departmental financial performance, analyze operating results, and partner with leaders across the organization to ensure fiscal accountability, sound decision-making, and achievement of budget objectives.
- Develop, analyze, interpret, and communicate financial information, key performance indicators, trends, benchmarks, risks, and opportunities to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure timely, accurate completion of month-end closing activities and all required financial reporting.
- Provide executive leadership with accurate, timely, and meaningful financial reports, analyses, and recommendations.
Financial Operations & Compliance- Ensure compliance with all applicable Tribal, Federal, State, and Gaming regulatory requirements, including Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), internal controls, accounting standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain effective systems of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Gaming Commission, regulatory agencies, external auditors, financial institutions, vendors, and other external partners.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits while ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
Financial Administration- Oversee banking relationships and treasury activities.
- Oversee the organization's fixed asset accounting and inventory processes.
- Support the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs, including wages, incentive plans, commissions, and salary calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with approved practices.
- Oversee business insurance administration and other financial administrative functions as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in Finance or Accounting required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a Finance or Accounting management role at the Manager level or above within a complex, high-volume organization. Experience in a gaming and hospitality environment supporting a property with approximately 1,200 gaming positions, 40 table games, multiple food and beverage outlets, at least 750 Team Members, and annual revenues exceeding $100 million strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading multiple functional areas and developing high-performing teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries, with gaming industry experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), enterprise financial systems, and casino management systems such as IGT Advantage, InfoGenesis, and general ledger software, or comparable platforms.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to executives, department leaders, regulatory agencies, and Team Members.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, develop, and hold leaders accountable while fostering collaboration, engagement, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs require.

- Ability to move about the property regularly to observe operations, interact with guests and Team Members, and attend meetings and events.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials and equipment consistent with normal executive and administrative responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a variety of settings, including administrative offices, meeting rooms, casino operations, hotel and resort facilities, entertainment venues, food and beverage outlets, and community or external business locations
- Position requires regular interaction with Team Members, guests, vendors, Tribal leadership, community stakeholders, and industry partners.
- Environment may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, crowds, and other conditions commonly associated with a 24/7 gaming, hospitality, entertainment, and resort operation.

- Occasional travel may be required for conferences, industry events, professional development, business meetings, community engagement activities, and strategic partnerships.
