What you'll own

Monthly close & reporting - lead the full close cycle with internal statements published by the tenth business day; present revenue and expense analysis to agency leadership.

Audit & compliance - manage the annual external audit, Form 990 preparation, and all grant and regulatory financial reporting (NH DHHS, NHFA, NEAH, and others).

Internal controls - maintain and strengthen the agency's internal control framework; identify risks and surface solutions proactively.

Team leadership - supervise, develop, and evaluate Finance Department staff; ensure cross-training for operational continuity; oversee payroll processing.

Budget & planning - lead development of expense schedules and financial inputs for the annual operating budget in partnership with the CFAO.

Requirements

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure required.

Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Prior experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or behavioral health finance strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing audits, preparing Form 990, and working with government and grant funding sources.

Required Skills:
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent computer skills; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software required.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, develop, and evaluate staff effectively.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret complex financial information to support accurate reporting and sound decision-making.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to learn necessary computer and technical skills essential to the position and agency needs.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), or similar nonprofit accounting systems.
• Familiarity with CCBHC cost reporting, Medicaid billing, and NH DHHS reporting requirements.
• Prior experience in a community mental health or behavioral health environment.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to access all agency sites.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull 25 lbs.

Other:
• Ability to obtain and maintain agency and/or State of New Hampshire required background check(s).
• Provides essential tools needed to perform the duties of this position.
