Position DescriptionReports To: Chief Operating Officer Position Summary: The Director of Field Safety provides strategic leadership for Faulconer's field safety organization by fostering a culture where every employee takes personal ownership of safety. This role leads the Area Safety Managers and partners closely with Operations, Risk Management, and People Operations to integrate safety into every phase of work-from planning through execution. The Director serves as a trusted advisor and coach to operational leaders, helping teams identify and mitigate risk while supporting safe, productive project delivery. This position is responsible for developing the safety team, strengthening field engagement, coordinating enterprise safety training, and driving continuous improvement through collaboration, coaching, and servant leadership. Success in this role is measured not only by safety performance, but by the strength of partnerships across the organization, the development of people, the trust earned from employees in the field, and consistently demonstrating Faulconer's Core Values.
Primary Job Responsibilities: - Lead, coach, and develop the Area Safety Managers while establishing consistent expectations and best practices across all operating regions.
- Partner with Operations to proactively identify project risks and integrate practical safety strategies into planning and execution.
- Foster a Safety-First culture by promoting personal accountability, Stop Work Authority, and positive employee engagement.
- Maintain a visible field presence, building trusted relationships with employees and operational leaders.
- Partner with People Operations to develop and coordinate enterprise safety training, onboarding, leadership development, and competency-based learning.
- Lead or support significant incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure lessons learned are communicated and corrective actions implemented.
- Partner with Risk Management to support implementation of company safety programs, regulatory compliance, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor safety performance through leading and lagging indicators and provide meaningful recommendations to executive leadership.
- Evaluate new technologies, industry best practices, and innovative approaches that strengthen safety performance and operational excellence.
- Represent Faulconer with customers, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations while exemplifying the company's Core Values.
Position RequirementsPreferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree (preferred): Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive construction safety experience, including leadership of safety professionals
- OSHA 500 and 510 certifications preferred.
- CSP, CHST, ASP, or equivalent professional safety certification strongly preferred.
- Heavy civil, utility, or sitework construction experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and high-risk construction activities, including excavation, trenching, utility work, and heavy equipment operations.
- Demonstrated success partnering with operations to improve safety performance and build a positive safety culture.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training and leadership development programs.
- Experience leading incident investigations, conducting risk assessments, and using safety metrics and digital management systems to drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of construction methodologies and practical risk mitigation strategies.
- Willingness to travel regularly to all operating locations.
Work Authorization / Security Clearance:- Employee must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Drug screens are required after an offer is accepted, and continued employment is based on the initial drug screen and any future/random drug screens administered.

- Driving records may be required.
