Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent, Director of Facilities, Management and Construction shall plan, organize and supervise the district's facilities and safety programs and will serve as one of the district's safety officers for all projects that are funded fully or in part through bonds. This includes being responsible for supervising and coordinating all district facility improvement projects, including new construction and modernization projects. Serves as the District's Representative at construction meetings. Leads the design and planning of construction and modernization projects and is responsible for coordinating change orders with the construction manager, architect, and contractor. Assists in the development of project and construction budgets and monitoring of project and construction budgets as the project is undertaken. Responsible for supervising and evaluating the facilities department personnel and individual project supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: Construction process, building trades, and maintenance of structural and mechanical building systems. Decorative landscape and athletic field maintenance. Building security systems, anti-intrusion, and theft prevention methods. Energy management and utilities conservation measures. California Administrative Codes, California Education Code, Building Health and Safety Code, CFRs relating to health, safety, hazardous materials, and handicapped access. Budget process and fiscal management. Organizational structure and design. Labor agreements, FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), and personnel management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience and knowledge of construction management or oversight of a school bond.
• Graduation from High School or equivalent supplemented by college or commercial course in construction, material testing and drafting.
