Job Summary
Kutztown University is seeking an experienced and collaborative facilities leader to serve as the Director of Facilities Maintenance & Heat Plant Operations.

This essential leadership position provides strategic direction, fiscal stewardship, and operational oversight for the University's maintenance and skilled trades shops, central heat plant, and deferred maintenance initiatives. The Director will lead and develop a highly skilled workforce, oversee contracted services and operational budgets, and use the University's work order management system to ensure that urgent, routine, and preventive maintenance needs are completed effectively and on schedule. The position also contributes valuable facilities expertise to the review of campus construction and renovation designs. Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
This position is designated as essential personnel. Essential employees may be required to remain at or report to work during partial or full-day University closings, including closings due to hazardous road conditions, emergency circumstances, or other operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities or Construction Management, Engineering or related field
  • 7 years of progressive experience managing comprehensive facilities-based operations or experience in a similar environment.
  • 5 years of experience supervising maintenance/skilled trades employees
  • 5 years of experience managing an operational budget in excess of 1 million dollars
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Prior work experience utilizing CMMS
  • 5 years of experience providing oversight of contracted services associated with project work
  • A valid state issued driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • APPA CEFP Certification
  • 3 years' experience managing staff & work in a unionized environment
  • 5 years' experience managing staff & work in a Higher Education setting
  • 5 years' experience working in a higher education setting
  • Operational knowledge of a centralized heat/boiler plant
  • Professional Engineering Licensure
  • Prior work experience reviewing architectural drawings
