Job DescriptionWhat We Are Looking ForBaylor University is seeking a Director of Cybersecurity Operations to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Baylor University's cybersecurity operations program. This position is responsible for protecting university information assets, monitoring cybersecurity threats, coordinating incident response activities, managing security technologies, and leading a team of cybersecurity professionals. The Director collaborates with campus stakeholders to strengthen Baylor's security posture while supporting the university's mission of teaching, research, and service.
This position is eligible for remote work.
A Master's degree and ten of relevant work experience are required.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do- Provide leadership and direction for the university's cybersecurity operations program
- Develop and execute operational cybersecurity strategies aligned with institutional goals and risk management priorities
- Lead the Security Operations Center (SOC) functions, including threat monitoring, detection, analysis, and response
- Establish operational metrics and key performance indicators to measure program effectiveness
- Maintain operational readiness for cybersecurity incidents and emerging threats
- Direct the university's cybersecurity incident response program
- Coordinate investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident activities
- Lead response efforts during significant cybersecurity events
- Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into operational processes and security controls
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, privacy, communications, and leadership teams during incidents
- Oversee implementation and administration of security technologies including:
- Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
- Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)
- Vulnerability Management Platforms
- Security Monitoring and Analytics Tools
- Email Security Technologies
- Cloud Security Solutions
- Direct vulnerability assessment and remediation programs
- Establish processes for prioritization and mitigation of security risks
- Coordinate security assessments, penetration testing, and technical security reviews
- Monitor threat intelligence sources and evaluate institutional impact
- Support university compliance initiatives related to: FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, PCI DSS, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-171
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
