Full Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Business Operations has responsibility for non-manufacturing operations at the site, including supply chain and program management, and may manage other functional areas in support of manufacturing. This role is a key member of the site leadership team, entrusted with the onboarding of new programs, ongoing program management, and the procurement, warehousing, and logistics operations for the site.

Essential Functions

  • Assists the GM in planning, monitoring, and reporting of weekly, monthly and annual business results; prepares and/or oversees management of operational performance metrics
  • Maintains effective customer relations, manages a team of customer-facing personnel to ensure multiple points of contact with key customers and/or vendors and avoids single points of failure relative to personnel and/or vendors & third-party services
  • Ensures compliance with applicable elements of AS9100, ITAR, OSHA, internal processes, and other applicable regulatory and agency requirements
  • Effectively utilizes the ERP to operate, measure, and drive the business; employs best practices and follows established procedures to ensure accuracy of transactions and compliance with customer contracts, terms, and conditions
  • Runs regularly scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly reporting from the ERP; performs or assigns associated work and updates metrics and internal dashboards accordingly; enters data and corrects order and customer data as needed to ensure accurate shipping and invoicing information
  • Monitors order book and production schedule to ensure timely procurement activities, optimizing lead times, inventory levels, and third-party service vendors/subcontractors; ensures accuracy of ERP data used to support decision-making
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with site leaders, business development personnel, General Managers, and other personnel at various position levels and locations
  • Performs duties in accordance with the Accurus Delegation of Authority regulations; ensures adequate and timely approvals at higher levels when required
  • Periodically visits vendors and suppliers, may visit customers, and occasionally travels for other company business
  • Sets an example for integrity, communication, and compliance for others in the organization by following policies, communicating professionally, and providing timely responses to internal and external customers

This role is identified as requiring ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance; therefore, qualified candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15):
  • An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship, or
  • An individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder), or
  • An individual who is granted status as a "protected person"

Required Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or similar is required; preferred majors are management or supply-chain management
  • Minimum of ten (10) years in progressively responsible positions within program management and/or supply chain management in an engineered-product manufacturing business is required; aerospace industry experience preferred
  • Minimum of four (4) years in leadership including selection, performance management, and employee relations with both hourly and professional employees is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of multi-site Enterprise Resource Planning systems and utilization to support business processes is required; Infor Visual experience is preferred

Other Required Skills and Abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of supply chain processes and methodologies; understanding of financial implications for inventory management, supplier contracts, and freight terms (ITAR compliance and export experience preferred)
  • Experience with long-term customer contracts, engineering or other change notice procedures, and quality management systems (AS9100 preferred)
  • Customer-facing problem-solving and negotiation experience
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities to appropriately handle unexpected challenges
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, securing company records, and demonstrating integrity in communications and actions
  • Self-management skills including efficiency, sense of urgency, ability to adapt and respond to unexpected circumstances, and ability to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines
  • Effective leadership and people-management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel (advanced), PowerPoint, and Word
  • Proficiency in the use of ERP systems and associated reporting
  • Valid driver's license in the state of work location is required; maintaining an acceptable driver history (MVR) is required

Work Environment

The normal work environment is a typical office setting; however, the employee may be exposed to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vapors, and hazards including forklifts and other moving equipment during regular visits to the manufacturing shop and warehousing departments.

The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye protection, and use of safety footwear may be required during these visits.

Travel
Occasional travel by air and/or ground transportation is required. Some travel may be overnight. A valid driver's license and acceptable driver history report are required.
