Director of Agronomy - Longboat Key Club
Position Summary
The Director of Agronomy is responsible for the overall management, planning, and execution of all golf course and grounds maintenance operations at a high-end, multi-course facility. This role ensures exceptional playing conditions, aesthetic standards, and environmental compliance while managing staff, budgets, and agronomic programs.
Competitive Salary (based on experience) $200,000 to $250,000 annually
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance, including turf health, landscaping, irrigation, and course presentation
- Develop and implement agronomic programs for Platinum Paspalum turfgrass
- Manage irrigation systems and water usage
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations
- Supervise and develop grounds maintenance teams
- Oversee multi-course operations
- Manage budgets and control costs
- Plan and execute capital projects
- Collaborate with golf operations leadership
- Maintain records and reporting
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, or related field
- Previous experience with Platinum Paspalum preferred, but not required
- Previous experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Senior Assistant at a high-end facility
- Previous experience at multi-course or multi-use facilities
- Previous expertise in irrigation systems and water management
- Knowledge of environmental regulations
- Experience managing full grounds teams (60 or more team members)
- Demonstrated expertise in budget management control
- Advanced proficiency in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- GCSAA membership required
