With the impending retirement of the current executive leadership, this individual will serve as the face of the facility, providing stability and servant leadership during a critical period of transition.

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned veteran who possesses the clinical gravity of a CNO and the business acumen of a COO. The successful candidate will be tasked with stabilizing a workforce following key retirements, improving financial viability in a county-owned/system-managed matrix, and fostering a Better Together culture that prioritizes patient safety and operational excellence.

Job Description:

Onsite Executive Leadership & Strategy

  • Strategic Alignment: In collaboration with the Hospital Chief Executive, ensure the mission, goals, and strategies of Presbyterian Health System (PHS) are implemented through local planning and oversight.
  • External Relations: Act as the primary liaison to the community and local county officials; represent the hospital in community forums to drive growth and maintain a strong external brand.
  • Matrix Coordination: Navigate the complexities of a county-owned, PHS-managed facility, ensuring that local operational needs are balanced with system-wide standardization.

Clinical & Nursing Operations
  • Comprehensive Oversight: Direct all nursing operations, including the Medical Floor and Emergency Department (ED), ensuring evidence-based practices and superior patient outcomes.
  • Expanded Portfolio: Provide administrative direction for Home Health and the Outpatient Clinic, ensuring seamless transitions of care across the local continuum.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain the highest standards of safety and quality; coordinate with regulatory agencies and ensure the campus is survey-ready at all times.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Maintain a pulse on clinical practice; understand care processes in all service areas and provide point of care leadership as required to support the staff.

Operational & Financial Stewardship
  • Financial Stabilization: Under the guidance of the CEO, plan and monitor the financial activities of all designated departments to address current financial struggles and achieve sustainability.
  • Budgetary Execution: Prepare and manage the annual operating budget, capital allocation plans (including medical equipment/monitoring), and labor productivity.
  • Ancillary Oversight: As the senior onsite leader, provide administrative support and accountability for non-nursing functions including Pharmacy, Plant Services, and the Business Office.
  • Efficiency & Improvement: Utilize process improvement methods to create safe, efficient workflows; champion just culture and C.A.R.E.S. behaviors to drive operational excellence.

Human Resources & Talent Development
  • Workforce Stabilization: Lead recruitment and retention efforts following key retirements (Administration, Radiology); build a culture of transparency to boost morale.
  • Professional Development: Direct all human resource activities for the campus; coach and mentor department leaders to build a robust internal leadership pipeline.
  • Conflict Resolution: Serve as the final onsite authority for conflict resolution among staff, physicians, and patients, facilitating effective communication between all parties.
  • Accountability: Empower staff through the delegation of responsibility and authority, while holding self and others answerable to high performance standards.
