Lead Medical Staff Excellence & Physician Governance

At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Medical Staff Services team plays a vital role in supporting physician leadership, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care. We're seeking an experienced Director of Medical Staff Services to provide strategic leadership for credentialing, privileging, medical staff governance, accreditation readiness, and physician engagement while serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Organized Medical Staff.

What You'll Do

  • Lead all Medical Staff Services operations, including credentialing, privileging, appointments, reappointments, and provider enrollment
  • Oversee Medical Staff governance, including Medical Executive Committee, Credentials Committee, Governing Board, and other physician committees
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, NCQA, DNV, state, and regulatory standards
  • Provide strategic guidance on Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, policies, and governance processes
  • Lead physician peer review, OPPE, FPPE, and professional practice evaluation programs
  • Partner with physician leaders, executives, department chairs, and hospital leadership to strengthen physician engagement
  • Oversee physician onboarding, orientation, and integration processes
  • Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, physician satisfaction, and regulatory compliance
  • Optimize credentialing software, provider data management systems, and Medical Staff technologies
  • Develop departmental budgets, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives


What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of progressive Medical Staff Services experience in an acute care hospital
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience overseeing Medical Staff Services operations and personnel
  • Expertise in managing credentialing, privileging, , appointment, and reappointment processes in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Experience interpreting, implementing, and administering Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies, and governance requirements.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for medical staff governance, accreditation compliance, physician peer review, OPPE, FPPE, focused evaluations, and professional practice evaluation processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, NCQA, DNV, and California regulatory requirements related to medical staff operations and credentialing
  • Experience supporting Medical Executive Committees, Credentials Committees, Governing Boards, and executive leadership teams
  • Excellent leadership, communication, relationship-building, and change management skills
  • Experience with credentialing software and provider data management systems


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Health Information Management, or a related field required (equivalent progressive Medical Staff Services leadership experience may be considered)
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) required (or obtained within 12 months of hire)
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification preferred
  • Ability to obtain LA City Fire Card within 30 days
