PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Director of Marketing is a leadership position responsible for developing and executing the resort's marketing strategies and campaigns. This individual will lead the annual planning marketing cycle, ensuring alignment across resort business units while delivering integrated marketing plans that drive visitation, revenue, and brand engagement.

The Director will oversee campaign planning, creative execution, campaign performance and optimizations, marketing operations, and cross-functional coordination to ensure all guest-facing communications and initiatives support Deer Valley's premium brand experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Campaign Strategy Development & Execution
  • Develop and lead comprehensive marketing strategies that support visitation, revenue, and profitability objectives
  • Oversee annual campaign planning, promotional calendars, and go-to-market strategies across all seasons
  • Ensure coordinated execution of marketing initiatives across paid, owned, earned, and partner channels
  • Continuously evaluate campaign effectiveness and adjust strategies based on performance data and evolving market needs.

Marketing Operations & Business Unit Support:
  • Lead the planning and execution of business-unit marketing initiatives, activations, promotional support, and guest communications
  • Oversee development of creative assets, collateral materials, signage, and on-property marketing communications; ensure consistent brand standards across all guest-facing messaging and experiences
  • Coordinate resource allocation and project prioritization across marketing functions to support resort-wide objectives.

Creative Development & Brand Management
  • Partner with creative teams to develop compelling campaigns, storytelling, and content that reinforce Deer Valley's premium positioning
  • Maintain consistency of brand standards, messaging, and visual identity across all marketing channels
  • Oversee production of marketing materials including advertising, signage, collateral, digital assets, and seasonal creative campaigns
  • Provide strategic marketing counsel to Events and Sponsorships to ensure alignment with brand and business objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Build strong relationships with leaders across the resort to align marketing activities with operational priorities
  • Facilitate effective communication between marketing and operational teams to ensure successful implementation of initiatives
  • Collaborate with external agencies, vendors, and partners as necessary to deliver marketing objectives.

Performance Optimization & Reporting
  • Monitor key performance indicators including visitation, campaign effectiveness, revenue contribution, and guest engagement
  • Develop reporting and insights regarding campaign performance and marketing effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities to improve marketing processes, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop marketing professionals responsible for campaign development and execution, creative services, and marketing operations
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, creativity, and service excellence
  • Build team capabilities and processes that support effective execution of marketing priorities
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development efforts across the marketing organization.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Hospitality, or related field.
  • Advanced degree preferred.

Experience
  • 8-10 years of progressive marketing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading the strategic development of integrated marketing campaigns and seasonal business planning.
  • Experience supporting multiple business units within a complex hospitality, ski resort, recreation, or destination organization.
  • Strong background in campaign management, marketing operations, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Proven experience managing creative development, agency relationships, and large-scale campaign execution.
  • History of managing and developing a strong marketing team while building the culture.
