ABOUT THE POSITIONExplore Edmonton is looking for a strategic and collaborative marketing leader to join our Global Marketing team as
Director, Marketing Accounts.
In this role, you'll lead the marketing strategy and delivery supporting some of Explore Edmonton's key business development and consumer portfolios, including Sport & Culture, Business Events and Consumer Marketing. You'll work across the organization to turn business priorities into integrated marketing strategies that grow visitation, strengthen Edmonton's destination reputation and contribute to the visitor economy.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Marketing, you'll lead a team of Marketing Account Managers and work closely with leaders and teams across Explore Edmonton to align priorities, resources and marketing efforts.
What you'll do- Lead the strategic planning, execution and performance of marketing initiatives across assigned business development and consumer portfolios.
- Partner with business leaders to understand their priorities and translate them into effective marketing strategies, campaigns and measurable actions.
- Oversee campaign and media planning, digital marketing, branding, web and content marketing strategies.
- Collaborate across Global Marketing and Explore Edmonton to strengthen integration, share resources and improve how marketing supports organizational priorities.
- Develop marketing strategies that support increased visitation, economic impact and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Build strong relationships with internal clients, industry partners, tourism and experience providers, clients and event rights holders.
- Lead business case development, RFP processes and contractor selection for major marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve marketing approaches and adjust strategies and resources as priorities evolve.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Marketing Account Managers, setting clear expectations and creating an environment that supports collaboration, accountability and professional growth.
- Establish annual priorities, targets and measures and monitor performance against those commitments.
- Develop and manage portfolio marketing budgets, forecasts and expenditures.
- Contribute to broader Global Marketing and organizational planning and priorities.
What you bring- Post-secondary education in marketing, business, communications or a related field.
- Approximately 8-10 years of progressive marketing and communications experience, ideally with experience leading complex, integrated marketing portfolios.
- Previous people leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build and lead collaborative, high-performing teams.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate organizational and business priorities into practical marketing strategies.
- Demonstrated experience across traditional, digital and social marketing.
- Experience providing strategic advice and presenting recommendations to senior and executive leaders.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, writing and presentation skills.
- Sound judgment and the ability to assess risk, interpret complex issues and make evidence-informed recommendations.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts and external vendors or contractors.
- Ability to work across teams, balance competing priorities and pivot effectively as organizational needs change.
- Proficiency with digital marketing and analytics platforms such as Google Ads, Google Analytics, email marketing, website management and CRM systems.
- Experience in tourism, destination marketing, venues or events is considered an asset.

Working at Explore EdmontonThis role works within a flexible environment, with in-office time across the
Edmonton Convention Centre, Edmonton EXPO Centre and World Trade Centre. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.
