Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Children, Family, and Community Service, the Director is a key member of the Service Management team and advances Catholic Social Services' mission, vision, values, and strategic direction.
The Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for assigned service functions, including program development, service delivery, fiscal stewardship, compliance, quality improvement, accreditation readiness, and stakeholder relationships.
The successful candidate will be a values-based leader with strong business acumen, sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead teams, manage complex issues, and respond to changing community and organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Service Leadership
  • Lead assigned service areas in alignment with Agency strategy, mission, values, policies, accreditation expectations, and service-specific requirements.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve programs and services to respond to changing community needs and enhance client outcomes.
  • Build partnerships with funders, community partners, service providers, and internal leaders to strengthen resources and service impact.
  • Monitor internal and external social service, political, and economic factors that may affect programs, funding, risk, and service delivery.

People and Team Leadership
  • Attract, develop, coach, mentor, engage, and retain high-performing team members while supporting a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
  • Provide clear direction, timely feedback, performance support, succession planning, and attention to employee wellness, safety, and coverage needs.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with direct reports, service teams, senior leadership, and cross-functional partners.

Operational and Financial Management
  • Oversee program operations, budgets, contracts, staffing resources, property needs, reporting, and service quality for assigned areas.
  • Identify operational risks, resolve complex and high-risk issues, and implement practical strategies that support safe, compliant, and responsive services.
  • Develop performance metrics, monitor outcomes, and support continuous improvement in systems, processes, tools, documentation, and technology use.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and confidential handling of client and Agency information in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Oversee Serious Occurrences, internal investigations, administrative requirements, follow-up actions, and Council on Accreditation processes for assigned areas.
  • Provide timely updates to the Vice President, direct reports, team members, and stakeholders, and provide on-call support to Program Managers as required.

Collaboration and Representation
  • Act as a professional ambassador for Catholic Social Services with clients, employees, stakeholders, funders, partners, and the public.
  • Communicate respectfully and confidentially, while demonstrating humility, compassion, respect, and sensitivity to privacy, dignity, culture, beliefs, and diverse needs.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, support Agency initiatives, and contribute to problem-solving and implementation of agreed-upon actions.
