Director, Logistics Procurement

Charlotte, NC

The Role:

Work Model: Hybrid

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, standard business hours (average 40 hrs/week)

Reports to: Sr. Director, Logistics Procurement

Summary / Primary Role:

The Director, Logistics Procurement leads Odyssey's enterprise transportation procurement strategy, spanning both truckload and dry/liquid bulk sourcing. This role directly manages the Bulk and Truckload Procurement teams and is accountable for the cost competitiveness, service reliability, and performance of the full freight procurement portfolio. The Director serves as the primary escalation point and executive liaison for procurement strategy, market conditions, and carrier performance across all transportation modes.

What You'll Do:

We're looking for a strategic, hands-on procurement leader who can own carrier relationships and sourcing strategy across our truckload and bulk networks, while developing the managers who run these teams day to day.
  • Strategy & Team Leadership
    • Set procurement strategy across truckload, flatbed, intermodal, and dry/liquid bulk sourcing, and directly manage, coach, and develop the Bulk and Truckload Procurement Managers.
    • Approve large-scale sourcing events and make final award decisions on strategic or high-value opportunities.
  • Carrier & Market Strategy
    • Own top-tier carrier relationships across both networks, set scorecard and KPI targets (OTD, acceptance, cost, compliance), and direct corrective action when performance falls short.
    • Monitor transportation market trends (capacity, rates, regulatory conditions) and brief executive leadership on cost and service impacts.
  • Executive & Stakeholder Partnership
    • Serve as the primary procurement liaison to business unit presidents and executive leadership on cost, service, and sourcing strategy.
    • Partner with Finance, Operations, and Master Data leadership on cross-functional initiatives affecting procurement, routing, and budget processes.
  • Financial Performance & Process Improvement
    • Own the procurement budget and cost-savings targets, and lead negotiation of the most strategic, highest-value carrier contracts.
    • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of sourcing processes and reporting, and prepare executive-level business reviews on procurement performance.


What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of logistics or supply chain experience, including 7+ years of transportation procurement experience (sourcing, contracting, category and supplier management); experience spanning both truckload and bulk/liquid modes preferred
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven track record of leading managers and building high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong executive presence, with the ability to communicate and influence stakeholders from front-line employees to the VP/President level
