Working closely with the Enterprise Project Management Office, project sponsors, and key business stakeholders, you will build a high-performing delivery culture centered on business value, efficient resource allocation, program health transparency, individual accountability, and continuous improvement.

While this is a non-technical role, you'll work closely with technical teams to translate technology challenges into solutions aligned with organizational objectives. You will provide strategic leadership across the full IT delivery portfolio - spanning all IT teams and verticals - ensuring that programs, projects, products, solutions, vendors, budgets, and people stay focused on Calgary Co-op's priorities.

What You'll Do

IT Strategy, Operating Model & Delivery Alignment
  • Translate enterprise and business strategies into a clear, prioritized IT delivery roadmap.
  • Evaluate and optimize delivery frameworks, standards, governance, and performance measures.
  • Partner with the PMO to align technology initiatives to strategic objectives, governance, and team capacity.
  • Foster a culture of predictable, outcome-oriented delivery and continuous improvement.

Technology Program & Project Delivery Maturation
  • Provide oversight of complex, multi-year programs and enterprise technology projects.
  • Uphold effective governance across scope, schedule, budget, risk, dependencies, and benefits realization.
  • Provide the Senior Director, IT with executive-level visibility into delivery status, risks, and outcomes.
  • Identify delivery risks early and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Enforce consistent project management practices and standards across the portfolio.

Technology Solution Delivery
  • Oversee the successful delivery of technology solutions across all IT teams and verticals, from concept through implementation.
  • Ensure solutions meet business, architecture, security, integration, and performance requirements.
  • Partner with technical leadership to translate technical challenges into viable, sustainable solutions.
  • Promote reuse, standardization, simplification, and modernization of technology capabilities.

Vendor & Partner Management
  • Cultivate relationships with technology vendors, implementation partners, and service providers.
  • Ensure vendors are selected and managed based on business value, performance, risk, and total cost of ownership.
  • Lead or support vendor negotiations, escalations, and performance improvement initiatives.

People Leadership & Talent Development
  • Attract, retain, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of IT delivery professionals.
  • Provide direct leadership and performance management for managers and/or individual contributors within Software Engineering and Enterprise Applications.
  • Foster an inclusive, accountable, and collaborative team culture and build a strong leadership pipeline.

Change Management & Stakeholder Leadership
  • Partner with IT and business leaders on organizational readiness, communications, and adoption.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive leaders and communicate complex delivery issues clearly.
  • Represent IT delivery interests and capabilities at senior leadership forums.

What You Bring
  • 15+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles (Director-level or above) with direct accountability for technology or strategic delivery teams at enterprise-scale organizations.
  • A demonstrated track record of developing and executing multi-year technology strategies in complex, large-scale, or geographically distributed organizations.
  • Strong business acumen with experience partnering with C-suite and executive stakeholders on technology investment delivery.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar IT budgets and coordinate complex vendor and partner ecosystems.
  • A track record of building and maturing high-performing teams, including talent development and organizational design.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with credibility across both technical and business audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's degree or MBA is considered an asset.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, or Scrum credentials are considered an asset.
