Full Job Description
The Director, Internal Communication & Employee Engagement reports to New Era' Chief of Staff, and is responsible for developing and executing strategies that foster a high-performing and highly-engaged workforce. This role partners across all levels and areas of the business to enhance the employee experience, drive cultural alignment, and improve retention and productivity through data-driven engagement initiatives. This key role will bolster employee engagement by developing and executing a comprehensive internal communication strategy that aligns employees with the organization's strategic direction, initiatives, mission, vision, and values. This role ensures consistent and engaging communication across all levels of the organization, fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and inclusion.

Responsibilities
  • Design and lead enterprise-wide internal communication and employee engagement strategies aligned with organizational goals, business priorities, and company culture
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Chief of Staff on company-wide communications; craft clear, compelling messages for executive updates, leadership messaging, key organizational announcements, and employee programs
  • Lead internal messaging during major changes in a way in which ensures transparency, consistency, and maintains trust
  • Manage external communication in partnership with appropriate stakeholders, including LinkedIn content that supports brand awareness and reinforces New Era's employer brand
  • Partner with business leaders and key stakeholders to drive timely, relevant, and engaging content across internal communication channels, including the company intranet
  • Provide strategic support for executive- and leadership-level meetings by driving agendas, defining objectives, and creating structures that drive alignment, productivity, and efficient decision-making
  • Gather multifaceted data points relative to the engagement of all employee groups throughout the organization
  • Analyze engagement data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities; present actionable insights to leadership
  • Champion initiatives that promote inclusion, recognition, purpose, and well-being
  • Create mechanisms for two-way communication and analyze feedback to inform communication strategies
  • Develop a revised strategy for how employees are to engage with the community and with community-based organizations towards the goal of accomplishing quantifiable employee-intrinsic and business-advancing goals
  • Partner with various areas of the business inclusive of Talent Development to introduce programs such as a New Era speaker series to serve as learning/motivational opportunities for employees
  • Equip people managers and leaders with tools, training, and coaching to build engaged teams
  • Develop the strategy and oversee on-brand employee recognition programs and ensure alignment with company values
  • Support organizational change initiatives with change management methodology, communication tactics, and engagement strategies that build trust and resilience
  • Keep all sensitive matters confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven success in designing and implementing engagement programs at scale
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in survey tools and data interpretation

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in organizational development, I/O psychology, communication, change management, business administration or other relevant studies strongly preferred, MBA a plus
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in an internal communications and employee engagement role at the leadership level
  • Certification in coaching, change management, or employee experience frameworks is preferred

Travel Requirement
  • The location for this position is 100% on-site in Buffalo, NY
  • 5% to 10%; domestic and/or global

The salary range for this posted position is $130,000 - $175,000 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation will fall within this range and is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
