Summary

Leads enterprise-level strategic initiatives to support margin improvement, operational integration, and business transformation across Jefferson Health's acute care operations. This role serves as a domain subject matter expert and internal consultant, partnering with enterprise, regional, facility, clinical, operational, finance, performance excellence, project management, and benefit realization teams to validate opportunities, accelerate execution, and improve operational efficiency.

The Director, Integration & Improvement - Acute Care will focus on acute care business units and domains such as patient flow, perioperative services, command center/transfer center operations, inpatient care progression, utilization management, care management, discharge operations, and related population health priorities. This individual will not directly own operational performance goals but will serve as an enterprise accelerator, helping accountable executives and operators identify opportunities, align initiatives, remove barriers, standardize leading practices, and maximize measurable improvement.

Job Duties

Enterprise Acute Care Integration Leadership
  • Lead enterprise-level integration strategies across acute care operations, ensuring alignment with Jefferson Health's broader strategic, operational, and financial priorities.
  • Serve as an enterprise subject matter expert for acute care domains including patient flow, perioperative services, command center/transfer center operations, care progression, utilization management, inpatient operations, discharge planning, and related population health initiatives.
  • Partner with business unit leaders, regional executives, hospital presidents, CMOs, CNOs, COOs, finance leaders, performance excellence, project management, and benefit realization teams to identify, validate, and accelerate high-impact opportunities.
  • Support the development of standardized operating models, governance structures, workflows, performance metrics, and implementation playbooks across Jefferson's acute care footprint.
  • Act as a liaison between enterprise strategy and regional/facility-level execution, ensuring initiatives are clearly defined, operationally feasible, and aligned with measurable outcomes.

Performance Improvement and Opportunity Validation
  • Partner with enterprise and operational leaders to identify and validate opportunities tied to margin improvement, throughput, length of stay, avoidable days, care progression, inpatient capacity, clinical variation, cost per case, and operational efficiency.
  • Use data-driven performance improvement methodologies to assess root causes, evaluate variation, prioritize opportunities, and support sustainable solution design.
  • Establish, monitor, and interpret key performance indicators to assess initiative progress, operational adoption, and financial impact.
  • Support benefit realization efforts by helping define opportunity logic, validate assumptions, monitor progress, and identify risks to achievement.
  • Translate complex operational, clinical, and financial data into actionable insights for executive decision-making
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder EngagementBuild strong relationships with enterprise business unit leaders, regional and facility operators, clinical leaders, finance, performance excellence, project management, and benefit realization teams.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and working groups to support complex acute care transformation initiatives.
  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholders with competing priorities, ensuring clear decision-making, accountability, and execution discipline.
  • Partner with population health leaders to align acute care initiatives with broader care model, utilization, readmission, and continuum-of-care priorities.
  • Collaborate with finance and other enterprise functions when initiatives require cross-domain coordination or financial validation.
  • Change Management and Adoption
  • Develop and support change management strategies to promote adoption of acute care integration and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Engage clinical, operational, and administrative leaders to build buy-in, clarify roles, and support implementation of new workflows and operating models.
  • Identify and address barriers to change, escalation needs, and operational risks that may impact initiative success.
  • Support the spread of leading practices across regions and facilities while allowing appropriate local adaptation.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, transparency, and enterprise standardization.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Finance, or related field.
  • Seven years of experience in acute care operations, integration management, performance improvement, healthcare consulting, enterprise transformation, or related fields without a master's degree.
  • Experience working with enterprise, regional, and facility-level teams to align initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Strong understanding of acute care operations, hospital throughput, care progression, utilization management, care management, inpatient operations, perioperative services, command center/transfer center operations, and performance improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, influence senior stakeholders, and support measurable operational and financial improvement.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Finance, or related field.
  • Prior experience in management consulting, large-scale health system transformation, enterprise performance improvement, or multi-hospital acute care operations.
  • Experience working across varied health systems to solve complex operational, financial, and clinical performance challenges.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, project management, change management, or other formal performance improvement methodologies.
  • Supplemental experience in revenue cycle, supply chain, finance, or population health is preferred.

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
