Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Infection Prevention is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention and control program. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, minimizes the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and promotes a culture of safety throughout the organization. The Director provides leadership and expertise in infection prevention practices, data analysis, and performance improvement initiatives.

Develop and implement the organization's infection prevention and control plan.

Oversee surveillance, analysis, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections.

Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention practices.

Collaborate with healthcare providers and other stakeholders to improve infection control outcomes.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards related to infection prevention.

Conduct ongoing surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) using established methodologies.

Analyze infection data to identify trends, patterns, and risk factors.

Develop and implement infection prevention strategies and interventions based on data analysis and best practices.

Conduct regular audits of infection prevention practices and environmental hygiene.

Provide education and training to healthcare personnel on infection prevention and control principles.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote adherence to infection prevention guidelines.

Investigate and manage outbreaks of infectious diseases.

Prepare reports and present data on infection prevention activities to relevant committees and stakeholders.

Maintain current knowledge of infection prevention guidelines, regulations, and best practices.

Participate in performance improvement initiatives related to infection prevention.

Serve as a resource for infection prevention information and consultation.

Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards related to infection prevention.

Develop and maintain infection prevention policies and procedures.

Oversee the selection and use of appropriate disinfectants and sterilization methods.

Manage the infection prevention budget.

Supervise and mentor infection prevention staff (if applicable).

Education & Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Bachelor's degree in nursing, microbiology, public health, or a related field required.

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within 1 year of hire.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) preferred.
