Valencia Community Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Imaging and Radiology to lead our Diagnostic Imaging Department. This is a working leadership position that combines departmental management with direct patient care in a collaborative rural hospital environment.
The Director is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the department, including regulatory compliance, quality improvement, staffing, budgeting, equipment management, and strategic planning. The Director performs X-ray and CT procedures as needed, participates in the department's on-call rotation, and ensures adequate backup coverage when unavailable.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys remaining clinically engaged while leading a team and helping shape the future of imaging services.
Our Imaging DepartmentValencia Community Hospital provides a full range of diagnostic imaging services, including:
- General Radiography (X-ray)
- Computed Tomography (CT)
- Ultrasound
- Fluoroscopy
- MRI services
Major Responsibilities- Establish, review and revise radiology policies and procedures.
- Establish, review and revise quality assurance procedures for the radiology department.
- Review preventative maintenance for equipment and instruments.
- Reviews and is knowledgeable about equipment and instrument contracts.
- Review patient reports and billing charges to assure appropriate patient care.
- Train and ensure staff compliance with safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment. Train and ensure staff compliance with HIPAA regulations, security regulations, accreditation regulations, state and federal regulations and laws and radiation safety regulations.
- Assure the compliance of departmental and institutional policies and procedures.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise and assist in the evaluation of departmental staff and work performance. Coach and mentor staff.
- Develop work performance standards and competencies and timely completion. Promote employee engagement and professional development.
- Assure appropriate staff coverage and workloads.
- Provide technical expertise as needed or requested.
- Participate in long range planning for new hospital departmental services and in developing and maintaining departmental budgets. Participate in the evaluation of new imaging technologies and equipment replacement plans.
- Build collaborative relationships with radiologists and referring/ordering providers. Address provider concerns. Improve report turnaround times. Support provider satisfaction initiatives
- Maintain departmental supplies. Maintain departmental equipment and instrument requirements.
- Consult and communicate when adding procedures and resolving problems.
- Submit the necessary radiology surveys, quality control and calibration verifications for review as required.
- Maintain continuing education credits and help monitor staff's continuing education credits.
General Duties- Performs general diagnostic imaging activities; reproduces images.
- Works closely with providers and assists in appropriate diagnostics.
- Cleans and inspects equipment and performs preventive maintenance. Receives patients, prepares and processes examination requests and related records, files images and reports.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment and/or services ordering and inventory control.
- Maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards.
- Perform other related duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.
- Participates in hospital/community events as a committee member.

Salary range: $100,000 - 110,000.00
