Job Description:

We are searching for the best talent join our team as the Director, Innovative Medicine Social Media Strategy. This role has a preferred location of the New Brunswick, NJ; Titusville, NJ; Spring House, PA; or Horsham, PA office on a hybrid work schedule.

Reporting directly to the Global Head of Digital and Social Media, the Director, Innovative Medicine Social Media Strategy serves as a key thought partner in shaping how Innovative Medicines shows up digitally on a global scale. This role is about architecting how global social media channels function together to build engagement with our key audiences of healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers by building brand trust, while protecting our reputation. And giving our Innovative Medicines teams in global, regional and country-level roles, who create content, guidance on best practices.

The Director will help drive Innovative Medicine's global digital and social media strategy and execution, working across a complex matrix of therapeutic area, regional, and functional partners to advance a unified global channel vision in close partnership with the Global Leader of Digital and Social Media. Key partners include our colleagues in both Enterprise Digital, MedTech Digital and Social Media, Regional Leads, Legal, Regulatory, Tech and more.

This role requires someone who deeply understands the present moment-one where all digital and social media continuously filters through how information and stories get surfaced through AI.

Equally important is the emotional maturity and leadership style this role requires. To be successful, the Director will be a grounded professional who brings strong emotional intelligence, insight, and diplomacy to every interaction. This individual will engage with a wide range of partners across global markets and have the confidence and tact to guide towards strategic best practices-balancing attention to detail with big picture perspective.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Channel Architecture & Digital Strategy
• Architect the Channel Ecosystem: Design, evolve, and connect global channel charters and operational models across regions and therapeutic areas, ensuring the digital footprint is strategic, unified, and intentional.
• Audience-First Strategy: Ground all digital initiatives in audience insights, prioritizing user experience (UX) and intuitive content pathways over simple posting cadences.
• Forward-Looking Innovation & AI: Maintain a curiosity about how emerging technologies-specifically AI-will reshape digital strategy, operations, content workflows, and audience engagement over the next 3 to 5 years.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Influence
• Matrix Leadership: Build strong, trusting partnerships across therapeutic areas, global markets, and enterprise functions (Communications, Legal, Regulatory, Privacy, Security, HR, and Issues/Crisis), serving as a trusted advisor alongside the Global Leader of Digital and Social Media.
• Global Enablement: Partner with regional teams to amplify local priorities on global channels while providing the governance, templates, and training needed for seamless execution.

Governance, Compliance & Operations
• Global regulatory understanding: The Director brings a working understanding of how healthcare content is evaluated within regulated environments globally, including the ability to distinguish between scientific exchange and institutional communications across the U.S. and international markets.
• Systemic Governance: Own and maintain the global social media governance framework, policies, access controls, and risk protocols appropriate for a heavily regulated pharmaceutical environment.
• Review Optimization: Partner with Legal, Regulatory, Privacy, and Security teams to refine compliant, efficient review pathways and escalation protocols that keep publishing moving smoothly without taking on risk.
• Channel Operations: Supervise global day-to-day operations-including publishing standards, community moderation, credential security, and vendor management (listening tools, publishing platforms, and agency scope).

Metrics, Analytics & Issues Management
• Data & Insights: The director will be responsible for important indictor frameworks across awareness, engagement, traffic, and reputation metrics; turn complex data into actionable insights for leadership.
• Community & Crisis Standards: Set standards for proactive community engagement and sensitive moderation (adverse events, misinformation, product complaints), coordinating closely with issues and crisis teams for rapid alignment during major moments.
• People Management: Direct a high-performing core team (including direct report oversight and indirect functional leadership), encouraging a collaborative, supportive environment focused on professional growth and accountabilities.

Qualifications & Experience
• Pharma / Regulated Industry Background: Hands-on experience operating within pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or a similarly regulated environment where medical/legal/regulatory and compliance partnerships are essential.
• Governance Expertise: Proven track record building or managing social media governance, policy development, risk controls, and channel access frameworks in complex organizations.
• Channel Architecture Focus: Demonstrated experience architecting global channel structures, audience user flows, and multi-market distribution ecosystems-not just producing post-level content.
• Metrics & UX Focus: Strong capability in using analytics tools (e.g., Sprinklr, Khoros, Brandwatch) to derive insights, improve user experience, and communicate return on investment to leaders.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
• 10+ years of dynamic experience in social media strategy, digital communications, and/or integrated marketing, including leadership in a large, complex organization.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to build and develop teams across strategy, operations, creative, and analytics.

• Travel: Occasional travel between local offices and key business events.
• Schedule: Requires occasional flexibility for after-hours coverage during high-priority news cycles or issues.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$150,000.00 - $258,750.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation -120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado -48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave - 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave - 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave - 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave - 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off - 80 hours per calendar year
