Overview

Quarterhill is seeking an experienced Director, HR Integration to lead the people-related aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and business integrations. This strategic role will partner closely with Corporate Development, HR, Legal, Finance, IT, and business leaders to ensure seamless employee transitions and successful organizational integration.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading HR integrations in complex M&A environments, with a proven ability to assess, design, and execute integration strategies across multiple HR functions. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution to deliver a positive employee experience while achieving business objectives.

Responsibilities

M&A and Integration Leadership
  • Lead HR due diligence, integration planning, and execution activities for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive HR integration workstreams, including organizational design, talent assessment, compensation, benefits, payroll, HRIS, policies, compliance, and employee communications.
  • Partner with executive leaders to develop integration strategies that align with business goals and cultural objectives.
  • Identify people-related risks, dependencies, and opportunities during transaction planning and integration execution.
  • Establish and monitor integration milestones, success metrics, and governance structures.

Organizational and Talent Integration
  • Evaluate organizational structures and recommend alignment strategies to support future-state operating models.
  • Lead talent assessments, retention planning, and workforce transition activities.
  • Support leadership teams through organizational change, workforce planning, and cultural integration initiatives.
  • Develop strategies to retain key talent and preserve critical business capabilities during periods of change.

HR Systems and Process Integration
  • Partner with HR Operations, IT, and business stakeholders to integrate HR technologies, processes, and data.
  • Oversee employee data migration, system harmonization, reporting structures, and workforce analytics.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.

Change Management and Communications
  • Develop and execute employee communication and change management strategies throughout the integration lifecycle.
  • Serve as a trusted consultant to leaders navigating organizational change.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives that support successful transitions and foster a unified culture.

Program Management
  • Create detailed integration plans, timelines, risk assessments, and status reporting for executive stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure deliverables are completed on schedule and within scope.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding integration progress, risks, and recommendations.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant experience leading HR integration efforts during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple HR workstreams in complex integration environments.
  • Strong understanding of HR operations, talent management, compensation, benefits, payroll, HRIS, compliance, and change management.
  • Experience partnering with executive leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Exceptional project and program management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, influence, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, PMP, Prosci, or related certifications.
  • Experience supporting global or multi-jurisdictional organizations.
  • Experience integrating HR systems and processes across acquired entities.
