Full Job Description
Job Summary
Works to build and strengthen the System's relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including employees, elected officials, government agencies, and business and community leaders whose support is critical to advancing Prisma Health's mission. Serves as a government and community relations advisor to executive leadership, leading strategies to secure support from elected officials and enhance community perception. This role may be assigned primary responsibility for either federal or state government relations activities while partnering to advance Prisma Health's overall advocacy strategy. Serves as a resource to internal stakeholders by monitoring legislative and regulatory activity and coordinating advocacy opportunities.

Essential Functions

  • Increases awareness and support of the System through development of coordinated government relations, advocacy, and reputation strategies.
  • Serves as a primary liaison between the System and elected officials, government agencies, and key external stakeholders.
  • Leads government relations efforts within an assigned area of responsibility, which may include federal or state legislative and regulatory affairs.
  • Monitors local, state, and federal legislation, regulations, and policy developments and coordinates Prisma Health's response with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with elected officials, government agencies, healthcare associations, and community leaders.
  • Coordinates advocacy initiatives, legislative visits, and stakeholder engagement opportunities.
  • Provides strategic counsel to leadership regarding government policy developments and potential organizational impacts.
  • Develops support and resources necessary to effectively manage government relations strategies.
  • Coordinates internal reputation and advocacy strategies with health company and affiliate leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Multiple incumbents may hold this position. Individual responsibilities may be assigned based on governmental jurisdiction (e.g., Federal Government Relations or State Government Relations) while maintaining shared accountability for Prisma Health's overall advocacy strategy.


Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
  • Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.


Minimum Requirements
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Communications, or related field of study.
  • Experience - Eight (8) years of marketing, public relations, advertising, communications, campaigns, government agencies or elected officials' office experience. Experience working with elected officials preferred.
