The Opportunity

Amylyx is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director, Commercial FP&A to serve as the primary finance partner to the Commercial organization. This role will provide financial leadership, business insights, and decision support that drive profitable growth while ensuring accurate revenue forecasting, reporting, and performance management.

As a key member of the Finance team, the Director will partner closely with Commercial, Accounting, and Executive Leadership to develop financial plans, evaluate strategic investments, support revenue guidance, and enhance decision-making across the organization. This individual will play a critical role in helping the company scale its commercial operations by delivering robust forecasting, performance analytics, and actionable insights into key business drivers.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to Commercial leadership, providing financial guidance, strategic insights, and decision support to drive growth and profitability.
  • Lead the annual operating plan, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning processes for the various Commercial functions, ensuring alignment between financial objectives and business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models, forecasts, and business analytics to evaluate revenue performance, commercial investments, pricing strategies, and growth opportunities.
  • Analyze key commercial performance metrics and business drivers, including revenue growth, sales productivity, pipeline conversion, payer mix, pricing, customer economics, and operating expenses.
  • Provide executive-level financial reporting and performance insights, delivering clear recommendations on risks, opportunities, and actions to improve business outcomes.
  • Partner with Commercial leaders to establish performance targets and accountability measures, monitoring progress against budget, forecast, and strategic objectives.
  • Lead strategic investment analyses and business case development to support resource allocation, market expansion, commercial initiatives, and other growth opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of FP&A processes, forecasting methodologies, reporting capabilities, and financial systems to enhance decision-making, scalability, and organizational effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, finance business partnering, or commercial finance, including leadership responsibility
  • Experience working in the life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries, including support of commercial operations, revenue forecasting, pricing strategy, and commercialization initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial modeling, and performance management, with the ability to provide financial insights that drive business decisions and deliver results.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and serve as a trusted advisor across Commercial, Finance, and cross-functional organizations, enabling alignment of financial strategies with business objectives.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated financial models and synthesize complex financial and operational data into actionable insights and recommendations that support decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Strong understanding of revenue growth drivers, pricing strategies, sales effectiveness, customer economics, payer dynamics, and market access considerations to optimize business performance and profitability.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex financial information into concise presentations, compelling financial narratives, and executive-level recommendations that facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Ability to anticipate risks, identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and develop data-driven solutions that support strategic priorities and advance business objectives.

Preferred Requirements
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred

Work Location and Conditions
  • At Amylyx, we proudly support remote work opportunities within the United States. However, due to business considerations related to health insurance coverage and state tax regulations, we are unable to hire employees who reside and/or work in certain states. Currently, we are not considering applicants from Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Michigan and Tennessee.
  • You will be expected to travel to our corporate location in Cambridge, MA several times a year and attend other company-related events as necessary and requested.
  • You must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at your remote location.


Compensation

The pay range posted below represents our good faith estimate of compensation for this role, based on market data and internal benchmarks. The final offer may vary depending on a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as considerations of internal equity.
