Job Description

Position Summary

The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis is primarily responsible for financial analysis, fund modeling, supporting strategic analysis, internal and external valuations and data analytics and FP&A team management.

**This position requires full-time onsite attendance at our office located at 997 Morrison Drive, Charleston, SC. **

Essential Job Functions
  • Lead the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis team to ensure a high caliber financial forecasting process is established to help influence business decisions.
  • Enhance, maintain, and deploy scalable fund financial models, including long-term financial modeling.
  • Coordinate internal valuation and support external valuations process to ensure calculations are in line with valuation policies and properly reported to stakeholders.
  • Work with senior leadership on modeling and evaluating return implications of strategy adjustments.
  • Review investment performance track records and changes to return metrics.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate and fund accounting team to ensure accuracy and investor reporting timelines are met.
  • Work closely with operations and asset management teams to aid in the alignment of the business with financial performance
  • Hire, train, manage and evaluate workflow of direct reports.
  • Assist with annual fund business plan preparations and quarterly reforecasts including review of investment plans, effects of changes to return metrics, detailed analysis of current strategy, and variance analysis to underwriting or prior periods.
  • Prepare annual business plans, reforecasts and valuation presentations.
  • Assist with fund reporting, including consolidation of models.
  • Develop processes to ensure timely updates of internal fund models to drive decision making
  • Provide team support to the asset management group.
  • Strategic ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required.
  • Other duties, as assigned by supervisor or leadership team.

Performance will be evaluated based on measurable outcomes aligned with company and departmental goals. Metrics may include:
  • Timely completion of internal and external valuations
  • Quarterly reporting of projections


Required Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in real estate, finance, accounting or applicable field.


Experience
  • 7-10 years' experience working in corporate finance, a Fortune 100 company, a large real estate investment company or a REIT, SFR experience a plus.


Skills & Competencies
  • Experience managing and developing a dynamic team.
  • Advanced Excel skills, and proficiency in other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytic skills and high attention to detail.
  • Financial modeling experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a high volume, data entry and processing work environment.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated competence in working with large data sets.
