General Purpose of Job:

Reporting to the System Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all functions related to the financial management, budgeting, accounting and reimbursement of the Medical Group (CPSST) and its entities. Establishes and implements policies and procedures related to accounting practices and ensures compliance. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports in order to determine the group's financial status, financial trends, cash flows and the like. Provides comprehensive leadership and direction to ensure that the Medical Groups financial and statistical performance is accurately and continuously measured. The position is responsible for ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and that all reporting complies with applicable regulatory standards. The role ensures accurate and timely distribution of financial information; monitors compliance with external regulatory requirements and internal policies; and maintains required records of all assets, liabilities, and transactions to ensure the integrity and accuracy of internal and external reporting. This individual understands the operations underlying financial results and uses that knowledge-along with data analysis, pro forma modeling, and ongoing communication with operational leadership-to identify opportunities, drive decision-making, and support margin improvement. Additionally, the role reviews financial aspect of all physician contracts. Conducts and supports audits to confirm operational compliance with all applicable rules and regulations and, in conjunction with the CEO, CFO, and operational VP. initiates and enforces operational measures that advance and protect the mission, vision, and values of the Health System.

  • Serves as the financial advocate for the medical group, driving financial results through every interaction, decision, and assigned task.
  • Reviews monthly financial results and communicates key trends, issues, risks, and opportunities to leadership.
  • Develops financial data, analysis, forecasts, and pro forma models to support operational improvements, new ventures, service expansion, and capital acquisition decisions.
  • Coordinates fiscal operations, ensuring optimum cash flow, accurate accounting of all revenue and expenses, timely month-end close, and reliable financial and statistical reporting.
  • Creates and provides oversight for all financial and statistical reports, including NAIC/TDI quarterly and annual filings, FSRs, and related budget commentary.
  • Coordinates, oversees, and completes all internal and external audits for the group and supports preparation of financial information needed for consolidation into the Health System.
  • Prepares and provides oversight of the groups operational and financial budget, including projection analysis, monitoring, and detailed commentary.
  • Communicates complex financial issues to operational leadership in a clear, actionable manner and maintains an understanding of complex operational issues that affect financial performance.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and adheres to all Health System policies, procedures, corporate compliance requirements, and integrity standards.
  • Demonstrates ethical business practices, personal integrity, and professional behavior in all interactions.
  • Completes additional responsibilities and special projects assigned by upper management.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Effectively administers performance management system including: developmental feedback, goal setting, assesses competency, progressive discipline
  • Strong knowledge of and effective in administering hospital policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for sound management of human resources.
  • Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.
  • Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Management required.
  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related field) strongly preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare finance or related roles within a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, and third-party and government reimbursement.
  • Proven background in fiscal operations management, statistical reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Understanding of hospital and health plan operations, including key operational issues and their impact on financial outcomes; able to interact effectively with operational leaders without operating as an operations role.
  • Experience working closely with physicians, providers, and organizational leadership, with strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Claims adjudication experience preferred.
