Summary
Collaborates with managers, directors, and senior leadership and provides financial leadership, direction, analysis and support as a key member of the Administrative team to meet or exceed performance expectations and is a key part of the overall finance function. Provides direction for strong financial stewardship and overall accounting and administrative practices. Directs organization-wide financial planning, budgeting, and process support for the full spectrum of services offered throughout Sanford Health.

Job Description
Provides oversight of the department, including month-end closing cycle and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, capital planning and reporting, business plans and related analysis (e.g., pro formas/return on investment). May include implementation of legal and regulatory compliance. Provides professional and/or technical expertise. Oversees process that produce thorough, accurate and timely budget, expense management, and variance reports for the healthcare organization. Provides effective financial forecasting, planning and control mechanisms for the healthcare organization.

Has knowledge of accounting principles and applies principles to educate finance team and cross-team partnerships on healthcare financial policies, guide best practices for areas of support, and ensure accuracy of financial reports. Provides leadership and support for financial services initiatives and projects; has ownership of project outcomes and ensures deadlines are met while providing guidance and support to staff on individual contributions to projects.

Builds cross-functional networks and supports cross-team integration on multi-disciplinary projects. Serves as expert on matters related to finance in wide array of functional areas; reviews, audits, and validates workflows and associated financials; troubleshoots workflow problems and advises on solutions; re-validates workflows. Identifies key resources and team members for projects, ensure all elements function together.

Strategically builds a productive and focused team to achieve the objectives of the department. Ensures staff development is in line with strategic organizational and departmental objectives. Involved in candidate selection and onboarding, including scheduling training and integration into team. Evaluates employee performance and supports continuous professional development for employees.

Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Must demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail. Must understand relationships between segments of Sanford. Must have vision and values that are compatible with the organization, embrace systems thinking, be skillful at managing change, and understand a systems approach to problem solving and process improvement involving staff.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, business, healthcare administration, or related field; master's degree preferred.

Minimum of five years' experience in financial analysis or related accounting fields; two years' leadership experience required. Healthcare experience would be helpful.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or other professional certification is preferred, but not required.
