Responsibilities

  • Protect assets through monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP or IFRS in all financial reporting.
  • Recommend benchmarks to measure the company’s performance.
  • Produce the annual budget and forecasts, reporting any significant variances to management.
  • Provide financial analysis for decision-making on investments, pricing, and contracts.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.

Full Job Description
The Director Accounting and Finance will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company. Additionally, oversees the day-to-day functions of the Accounting Department. Responsibilities include the month-end close of the facility's general ledger and the preparation of the budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees the operation of the Accounting Department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll.
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.
  • Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
  • Provides financial analysis to assist Executive Leadership with decisions on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
  • Files quarterly and annual reports as needed.
  • Files initial and annual state corporate registrations, SUTA account set up, follow up registrations and other state mandated requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Ensures effective communication and issue escalation across stakeholders.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to create and/or update plans, budgets, and procedural documents, as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Ten (10) or more years of related accounting/finance experience required, with several years in CRO or biopharma industry accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Computer competency (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe).
