Full Job Description
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
  • Direct and complete the timely and accurate preparation of all financial statements for external use in accordance with SEC and U.S. GAAP requirements (Form 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K and other required filings)
  • Direct quarterly financial reviews and annual audit process, serving as primary point of contact for external and internal auditors
  • Research, evaluate and document technical accounting implications of complex or non-standard transactions
  • Keep current on proposed accounting and SEC reporting matters to proactively update senior management
  • Maintain global accounting policies and procedures, including monitoring new pronouncements and leading the implementation and training of any updated or new accounting standards, ensuring timely adoption and accurate documentation of the company's position
  • Support acquisition due diligence and integration, and lead related purchase price accounting and related SEC reporting requirements for M&A projects
  • Direct annual goodwill and intangibles impairment analysis and annual valuation of material pension plans
  • Lead all aspects of accounting for areas that may contain a high degree of complexity, such as hedging and derivatives, stock-based compensation and leases, including preparation of related valuations and technical documentation as needed
  • Be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of financial standards and internal controls across the global organization, including coordination with Internal Audit
  • Partner with FP&A, Legal, and Investor Relations to align financial results and materials for leadership, board, and external partners
  • Using technology, identifying and implementing continuous improvements to process, controls and systems used by the External Reporting team and the broader finance organization
  • Partner and complete other finance related projects and initiatives, as assigned
YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA required.
  • MBA, CMA strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive experience either in a Big 4 public accounting firm or a combination of public accounting and industry experience required; with SEC reporting and technical accounting experience preferred
  • Strong U.S. GAAP technical accounting and SEC reporting foundation with expert knowledge and practical experience in topics such as revenue recognition, leases, derivatives and hedging, stock-based compensation, business combination and financial statement presentation and disclosure
  • Strong advisory/consultative skills with a service approach and the ability to build key working relationships with finance and accounting teams globally
  • Ability to identify, call out and respond quickly to unexpected challenges and opportunities
  • Strong writing, presentation and communication skills and ability to easily explain complex accounting issues and conclusions to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to effectively lead, inspire and develop team members
  • A high level of accountability, ownership and comfort leading through change
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality


Pay Transparency

nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range:
$172,900.00 - $257,000.00

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
