Job Description:

  • Leads strategic planning efforts for Environmental Services and executes plans to achieve departmental goals, regulatory compliance, and organizational objectives.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors annual budgets for labor and non-labor expenses to ensure financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Establishes and maintains customer satisfaction standards, driving continuous improvement in patient and stakeholder experience.
  • Administers and responds to customer feedback and survey results with timely action plans to address opportunities for improvement.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs departmental operations to ensure safe, efficient, and effective service delivery.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies, including OSHA, CMS, CDC, EPA, and accreditation bodies.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary leaders to support patient safety initiatives and enhance organizational performance.
  • Utilizes data, benchmarking, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for quality improvement and operational excellence.
  • Oversees hiring, performance management, and corrective actions in collaboration with Human Resources and in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Promotes employee engagement through recognition, professional development, and team-building initiatives.
  • Develops and oversees training, orientation, and continuing education programs for Environmental Services team members.
  • Monitors departmental expenses and productivity, ensuring alignment with budget targets and labor optimization tools.
  • Participates in organizational committees and provides reporting to support compliance, quality, and operational objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have operational, functional, and strong business acumen skills and knowledge of the Environmental Service processes, including the clinical and non-clinical areas. [Required]
  • Assures current operations are compliant with government and regulatory agency guidelines. [Required]
  • Computer proficiency required. [Required]
  • Must have proven operational experience at the managerial level. [Required]
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and general management skills, must be service oriented and able to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives. [Required]
  • Demonstrated understanding of HCAHPS scoring and reporting associated with Cleanliness Performance indicators. [Required]
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CMS, CDC and EPA regulations regarding the collection and disposal of hospital generated waste stream. [Required]
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations. [Required]
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities. [Required]
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment. [Required]
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership. [Required]
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures. [Required]
