Full Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager, theDirector, Network Operations and Transportation is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the Network Fulfilment department and the Transportation Management teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure client satisfaction through effective operational execution, strong customer and vendor relationships, and achievement of all service level agreements, key performance indicators, and budget objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team within a unionized environment by driving performance management initiatives, fostering a positive and accountable workplace culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and supporting employees in achieving operational and customer service objectives.
  • Drive and support the Safety 1st culture
  • Develop and optimize operational strategies that balance service, cost, and business objectives while leading continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, production, maintenance, shipping/receiving, and personnel functions.
  • Evaluate process improvements, operational changes, and emerging technologies, leveraging data-driven analysis to identify opportunities and drive sustainable performance improvements.
  • Provide operational oversight to identify, address, and resolve process inefficiencies, equipment downtime, and performance issues that may impact service, quality, or productivity.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned tactical projects in support of strategic imperatives
  • Develop and deliver reports, dashboards, presentations, and data visualizations that provide meaningful insights into operational and network performance.
  • Oversee advanced modeling, predictive and what-if analyses, and strategic planning studies; collaborate with analytics teams to evaluate operational improvements and present recommendations that enhance network performance and support business objectives.


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in high-volume 3PL and/or transportation operations environments, including experience managing and developing high-performing teams within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and collaborative environment for both internal and external customers.
  • Lean manufacturing, visual management and six sigma tools application
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously to timely completion
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, results oriented environment
  • Hands-on leadership style with demonstrated success in performance management, change leadership, and creative problem solving.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Expert knowledge of dispatch operations, transportation management and logistic solutions with a broad knowledge in MOT rules and regulation.
  • Advanced technology proficiency, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), SAP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF technology, and routing or dispatching systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Transportation pricing techniques, rate structures by mode (including accessorial charges) and the contents of the Carrier transportation contracts with shippers.
  • Ability to research trends, keep abreast of emerging technologies, understand and evaluate operational system advancements to provide appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Ability to implement network optimization models using off-the-shelf and customized software for simulation of network strategy and alternatives in support of supply chain design decisions.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels and present complex operational and analytical information clearly.
  • Self-motivated strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to execute against business objectives and deliver results within critical timelines.
  • Possessing post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related discipline is preferred.
    • Support transportation functions by selecting cost-effective carriers, and ensuring providers are meeting pickup and delivery requirements
    • Ensure carrier compliance to delivery performance standards and manage customer freight claims (OS&D)
      • Oversight and Compliance of Freight Audit and Rate Management
      • Rate orders and quotes according to tariffs, provide quotations to client when requested
      • Manage and track carrier invoice submissions
      • Use TMS system and manual processes to audit invoices
      • Generate reporting on audit results
