OVERVIEW: The Director of Development and Market Leader will advance Year Up United's revenue, market presence, and community partnerships goals in the assigned market(s). Leveraging deep institutional knowledge and established relationships, this role supports fundraising efforts while strengthening a range of partnership activities, community engagement, and market-building initiatives in the Providence market. There may be national fundraising opportunities assigned to the Director outside of the Rhode Island market as business needs evolve. The Director will report into the Year Up United Development team with a matrix reporting structure into our Market Leadership business unit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Development & Fundraising- Manage and grow individual, corporate, foundation, and public funding portfolios with the goal of raising at least $750K in new cash annually from local sources and national sources as assigned by MDD. The focus will be on institutional grants though individual (Major and Principal) will be added where it makes business sense.
- Secure philanthropic support from major donors and meet fundraising cash, revenue, and meetings targets.
- Support principal gifts strategy and donor cultivation efforts in the market to maximize that vertical.
- Develop proposals in partnership with the Grant Writing Team, engagement strategies, and donor communications to the assigned portfolio
- Win back local public funding opportunities for the Providence market through various public funding streams including SNAP, state line items, etc.
Market Presence and Leadership - Serve as Year Up United's executive representative with local, state, and federal government leaders, workforce boards, and economic development organizations.
- Originate business development opportunities that expand employer partnerships, workforce solutions, apprenticeships, Career Connect, Career Labs, and future offerings.
- Advance innovative workforce solutions through partnerships with employers, higher education, and workforce organizations. Support CE sellers to increase demand from current partners and identify new partners for the Providence market.
- Position Year Up United as the workforce development partner of choice through executive engagement, public speaking, and thought leadership.
Initial Success Measures (6-12 Months) - Manage and grow an assigned fundraising portfolio of approximately $500K in annual cash Goal is to have a $750K annual cash portfolio by end of 2027.
- Strengthen Rhode Island community partnerships and outcomes.
- Increase alignment among Development, Enrollment, and Corporate Engagement teams.
Site Team/Learning Community Member - Serve as a coach / mentor for a small number of current students
- Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings
QUALIFICATIONS: - Expertise in fundraising and donor relationship management.
- Success building employer, community, or public-sector partnerships.
- Strong revenue-generation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent collaboration and relationship-building abilities.
- Passion for working with young adults and commitment to the mission and values of Year Up United

Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000
