Overview

Director, Cyber Solutions

Huntsville, AL (Hybrid)

The Director of Cyber Solutions drives the company's cybersecurity and IT portfolio growth across federal defense and civilian markets. This role sits at the intersection of business development, technical strategy, and client engagement owing the full arc from market identification through proposal award and contract handoff. Working directly for the President with strong ties to the Director of Business Development and the SBU Strategic Growth Team, this position requires someone who builds senior government relationships, architects credible and executable technical solutions, leads competitive proposal efforts, and hands off winning programs with complete confidence in what was sold and how it will be delivered.

Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

  • Own the cyber and IT solutions pipeline across federal defense, DoD, and civilian markets — identifying, qualifying, and advancing opportunities with discipline and strategic intent.
  • Lead go-to-market strategy for cyber and IT service offerings including competitive positioning, capability differentiation, and target client identification.
  • Conduct and synthesize market research to identify emerging requirements, budget trends, mission environment shifts, and competitive dynamics relevant to the portfolio.
  • Respond to RFIs, Sources Sought, and market surveys with technically credible, strategically positioned responses that advance company visibility and client relationships.
  • Advise on capture strategies, shape emerging requirements through early customer engagement, and position the company as the advisor of choice within target accounts.
  • Build and maintain direct relationships with DoD program offices, CIO/G-6 organizations, and senior government stakeholders as a trusted technical and strategic advisor.
  • Partner closely with the Director of BD on pipeline strategy, opportunity sequencing, and teaming decisions across the cyber and IT domain.
  • Represent the company at industry days, technical exchanges, and customer forums to advance relationships and inform solution development.

Technical & Proposal Solutioning

  • Lead technical solutioning for cyber and IT opportunities — defining the approach, staffing model, tools, governance frameworks, and delivery methodology that form the core of the competitive offer.
  • Apply working knowledge of IT/OT convergence, mission assurance, enterprise architecture, and operational resilience to develop solutions that are technically sound and mission-relevant.
  • Translate customer requirements and evaluation criteria into differentiated technical solutions that hold up under competitive scrutiny.
  • Serve as the primary technical volume lead or solution architect on cyber and IT proposals, driving content from outline through final submission.
  • Ensure proposals reflect executable solutions grounded in delivery reality — not aspirational language that the program team cannot stand behind on Day One.
  • Maintain current knowledge of NIST frameworks, FISMA, CMMC, Zero Trust architecture, CDM, DoD IT governance policy, and federal acquisition standards.
  • Collaborate with pricing, contracts, and BD to ensure the technical solution and cost structure are aligned and competitive.
  • Use data analytics and performance intelligence to inform solution design, support pricing rationale, and demonstrate measurable outcomes in proposal narratives.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a senior client-facing presence throughout the business development and early delivery lifecycle.
  • Engage government clients as a thought leader on IT/OT convergence, mission assurance, cybersecurity governance, and enterprise IT strategy.
  • Participate in capability briefings, one-on-one client meetings, and industry forums that build relationships and shape future requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing engagement with existing clients to identify follow-on opportunities and strengthen long-term positioning.
  • Advise government stakeholders on aligning technology investments with operational priorities, threat environments, and long-range mission objectives.

Contract Startup & Solution Handoff

  • Lead the technical transition from award to execution, ensuring the solution is understood, resourced, and operationally ready at contract start.
  • Partner with the Transition Manager and incoming program leadership to brief the full execution team on solution intent, client expectations, governance requirements, and anything that does not appear in the contract documentation but matters for execution.
  • Remain engaged through early program execution to support the PM and resolve solution interpretation issues before they become delivery problems.
  • Ensure no gap exists between what was sold and what the delivery team understands they are responsible for.

Strategy & Organizational Contribution

  • Contribute to annual growth planning, investment decisions, and capability development priorities within the cyber and IT portfolio.
  • Identify partnership, teaming, and strategic opportunities that strengthen the company's cyber and IT market position.
  • Provide regular pipeline and opportunity updates to the President and participate in executive-level growth reviews.
  • Apply data-informed analysis to pipeline health, win/loss patterns, and market trends to continuously sharpen pursuit strategy and resource investment decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in federal IT and cybersecurity with demonstrated responsibility across technical leadership, program management, and business development.
    • Direct experience engaging DoD or federal civilian program offices, CIO organizations, or senior government technology stakeholders in a business development or advisory capacity.
  • Must successfully pass background and drug screening.
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Top Secret with the ability to obtain TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree Information Systems, Cybersecurity or a related field.
  • CISSP, CISM, or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • PMP or equivalent program management certification; Army Acquisition Core certification a plus.
  • Prior experience in a CIO, Deputy CIO, or senior IT governance role within a DoD or federal civilian organization.
  • Established relationships within DoD program offices, Army or defense CIO communities, or federal civilian IT leadership.
  • Experience operating within a corporate BD structure that includes an SBU or enterprise strategic growth team.
  • Familiarity with IT/OT convergence, mission assurance frameworks, and operational resilience in defense environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven track record contributing to competitive federal cyber and IT proposal efforts that resulted in contract awards.
  • Working knowledge of federal IT governance frameworks — NIST 800-series, FISMA, CMMC, Zero Trust, CDM, DoD CIO policy — applied in a solutioning and advisory context.
  • Data literacy and the ability to collect, interpret, and apply data to solution design, pipeline decisions, and performance narratives.
  • Strong written communication skills including experience writing or leading technical proposal volumes for competitive federal procurements.
  • Technical credibility across federal IT and cybersecurity sufficient to architect solutions, lead technical exchanges, advise senior government stakeholders, and hold substantive conversations with proposal evaluators and program offices.
  • Full capture lifecycle fluency — knows how to qualify and shape opportunities, build a competitive position early, and bring pipeline discipline to every pursuit.
  • Proposal leadership — drives a technical volume from blank page to submission under competitive timelines without sacrificing quality or differentiation.
  • Data literacy and data-informed decision making — works comfortably with performance data, pipeline analytics, market intelligence, and outcome metrics to drive strategy and strengthen proposals.
  • Recognized within the federal IT and cyber community as someone whose perspective on mission assurance, IT/OT convergence, and enterprise strategy carries weight with government clients.
  • Able to present complex technical concepts, pipeline status, and growth strategy clearly to company leadership, corporate executives, and senior government stakeholders.
  • Succeeds through relationships — with BD, operations, the SBU growth team, program leadership, and government clients — and manages multiple active pursuits and client engagements without losing quality or momentum.
  • Ability to meet minimum clearance requirements.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
