Director, Credit Systems

The Director, Credit Systems will lead the modernization of Aqua Finance's credit decisioning platforms, supporting the transition from legacy systems to scalable, automated solutions. this position is responsible for translating credit policies and workflows into system configurations that ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient decisioning. Partnering across credit, product, operations, data, and engineering teams, this position will provide strategic and technical leadership for credit technology transformation, drive platform enhancements, improve automation, and support ongoing system administration. This position plays a key role in strengthening credit infrastructure, optimizing performance, and enabling scalable growth. The Credit Systems Director will also lead the credit technology roadmap and oversee platform architecture, implementation, integration, configuration, testing, deployment, monitoring, and optimization across consumer and dealer lending.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and execute the strategic and technical roadmap for credit technology and transformation initiatives aligned with business objectives, growth, and risk appetite.
  • Migrate credit workflows from legacy systems to automated decisioning platforms and translate credit policies into system-based rules, decision logic, workflows, queues, and automated processes.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership for credit decisioning platforms such as Oscilar, Alloy, GDS Link, or similar platforms, including configuration, decision logic, workflow design, integrations, testing, deployment, and optimization.
  • Lead initiatives to improve profitability, fraud prevention, operational efficiency, and decision quality.
  • Modernize credit infrastructure through automation, AI, and advanced analytics, to improve scalability, speed, and decision quality through credit technology and process transformation.
  • Design and implement end-to-end workflows and queues for credit underwriting, funding, dealer underwriting, and dealer support operations, including application routing, task management, status transitions, and exception handling.
  • Lead the expansion of automated underwriting capabilities from consumer credit decisioning to dealer underwriting, including credit strategies, decision rules, data requirements, workflows, and downstream processes.
  • Partner with Risk, Analytics, Engineering, and third-party vendors to implement, validate, monitor, and enhance credit strategies and technologies, while partnering with IT, Product, and other technology stakeholders on product solutions and implementation.
  • Provide technical leadership for system architecture, solution design, APIs, system interfaces, data mapping, and upstream and downstream data flows, ensuring reliable integration across credit platforms, internal systems, and third-party providers.
  • Manage UAT, deployment readiness, post-implementation monitoring, and legacy system decommissioning, including parallel and retrospective testing and production releases.
  • Establish monitoring and observability capabilities using tools such as Datadog to monitor application health, APIs, integrations, data flows, system performance, and production issues.
  • Monitor system performance, portfolio KPIs (including approval rates, decline trends, and turnaround times), policy compliance, and model outcomes; identify decision discrepancies and implement process and strategy improvements, while establishing appropriate governance and technical documentation.
  • Maintain system documentation, testing results, and change management records, and support governance of AI and decisioning models.


Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or STEM field, or commensurate work experience, required
  • 7 years of progressive experience in credit administration, lending operations or fintech risk platforms, automated underwriting, or credit decisioning platforms.
  • 3 years of people management experience required
  • Hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and optimizing credit decisioning platforms such as Oscilar, Alloy, GDS Link, Zoot, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of API integrations, system architecture, solution design, data mapping, data lineage, and upstream and downstream data flows.
  • Experience integrating credit decisioning platforms with credit bureaus, fraud and identity providers, income verification, pricing engines, underwriting systems, funding platforms, and other internal and external systems.
  • Experience partnering with IT and Engineering teams on technical requirements, architecture, product solutions, integrations, implementation, and production support.
  • Experience designing and implementing automated underwriting workflows for consumer and dealer underwriting, as well as funding and dealer support operations.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and troubleshooting production issues across APIs, integrations, data pipelines, and distributed systems.
  • Financial industry experience preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and SQL skills and familiarity with reporting tools, such as Power BI, Sigma preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment.

This position is an office-based position where you must be able to sit for long periods of time. The employee will be working on a computer 90% of the time.
