Job Description

In this role reporting to the Assistant Vice President, the Director of Corporate Relations will execute efforts that lead to increased industry engagement in Boston University through corporate gifts and philanthropy. This role will develop and manage a portfolio of key corporate relationships and develop comprehensive annual engagement plans prepared in collaboration with corporate and university leadership spanning Corporate Research & Contracting, Office of Research, Advancement, the Sponsored Programs, and others. The Director will work to identify both companies with strong current footprints on campus or industry leaders where the development of stronger relationships is desired. This position will work in collaboration with on campus partners to conceive of, design, and implement effective models for industry engagement that support the strategic priorities of Boston University.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required with at least eight years' work experience. Advanced degree desired.
  • Entrepreneurial and dynamic individual with a commitment to advancing University/Industry strategic relationships and partnerships.
  • Academic Corporate Relations, Development, and/or Fundraising experience with increasing levels of responsible scale and scope required.
  • Success aligning corporate gift and philanthropy interests with University programs and achievement establishing, securing and sustaining valuable corporate partnerships required.
  • Experience developing a portfolio of prospects and soliciting gifts aligned with the University's programs and strategic goals.
  • Excellent written and oral business communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to build relationships in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated record of leadership.
  • Consultative and accessible leadership style, integrity, and managerial skills.
  • Ability to gain credibility and trust with multiple layers of complex organizations from the University to corporations.
